Promoters sending text messages

Not cool. I have gotten two of them this week from 1015. You are not only annoying me, but costing me money. Stop.

its all in your mind. You probably spend more money sending texts to your friends on a daily basis just saying hello. I do a mass text one maybe twice a week and I think people spend more money arguing back and forth about their bill via text, so stupid.

I use two systems, one I pay for completely so that my 11 thousand subcribers don't but its not as reliable. The second system depends on the individuals plan. For $5 to $10 a month you can get unlimited text and save your self grief and money every month.

I think it is the fact that it is un-solicited. I have a text message nuke that makes the sender sorry they ever sent me a text message.

I will explain it. You open up Mozilla Firefox and go to your cell service provider and find the link that lets you send text messages from your computer. You set everything up to send the text message and then copy the tab then you copy it again and again and again and again etc. Next you copy the whole window and then copy that window again and again and again until you end up with about 1,000 texts that are ready to send. Next, find your [next tab] hotkey and proceed to hit ENTER and next tab very quickly (alternating of course). When you get to the last window do not send any texts, just copy the window again and again and you will be ready to send another thousand text messages. It takes maybe 5 minutes to set up and requires some plug-ins for Firefox but the results will drive a person to insanity.

Spoken like a real promoter. It is simply not cool to send unsolicited text messages. Also, I don't want an inbox from 1015 asking me for my number so they can remove it. I never gave permission to add my number to any list and I doubt that anyone else on the list did. So just figure out all the numbers that you didn't get permission from and remove those.

Well, that sucks! It is an individual person or a system? If its a system you just respond with Remove or Stop and if that doesn't work contact the promoter directly. Just keep in mind we are just spreading the news man, no ill will is being brought upon you. At least from my perspective, I happen to know who gets my texts and I try my hardest to be respectful to people about how often to send them.

U got 2 JD? When? Any chance theres a number connected to it? I only send txt to all my friends on my phone book when theres like a super huge event. I havent sent any out since Tiesto night....

I usually send a mass email once a week. Texts I may send once in a blue moon from my own phone.

Unsolicited is not cool. Especially if you don't have a text messaging plan. Unfortunatley promoters must do what they got to do to get the word out. Which includes email, text, phone, flyers and TA.

Usually the texts that I get from a number tell you some way to unsubcribe.

when i'm expecting an important text, and i open my phone only to see a text about a club event that i already knew about, i get annoyed.

what about when you get 10 billion myspace invites to the same event and your email box becomes a broken record for worthless notifications?

Nerd.

I think my 5 minutes of life I'd spend retaliating is worth more than the 5 cents they cost me.

I made a 'rule' in my email to simply delete those emails. Don't let them win~!

At the Last Supper Club here in Seattle they have a text message system where people can sign up and you basically have a good chance to get guest list spots to shows by doing so. I think it's a great idea but of course only when the person signs up for it.

Most carriers do have a text limit per month. Usually around 300 send/receive...once you go over, it costs you like 5 or 10 cents per text received or cent.

Most people just never go over the limit so they never realized there's even one.

Got a prepaid for Michelle recently (just tired of worrying about contract and just need something simple) with Virgin Mobile and they have a package for 1,000 send/receive texts for $10. With the packages we have, the monthly cost is the same from when she had t-mobile. Virgin easily has the best pre-paid plans since it's nationwide long distance as it uses Sprint's network and has pretty much the same rules. In the bay area, have had the most success with Spring so glad they use that network.
