Synths of Trance Songs Re-Created Right Here!

Okay here is the thread...using hardware synthesizers and/or vsts/softsynths, feel free to recreate as best as you can the sounds of the synths used in trance songs. This will be great practice for the sound re-creater, as well well as serve as good sound-programming education for other TAs, teaching them how to achieve different sounds. You might want to use a format like:

1) Name of the Re-Created Track:
2) Name of Hard/Soft Synth Used:
3) How to Create it: (perhaps explain it here or a screenshot of the synth presets/knobs will suffice)
4) Link to the Sound Clip:

Bring 'em on!

Nice idea, here's one of my attempts.

1) Name of the Re-Created Track: Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above & Beyond Mix)

2) Name of Hard/Soft Synth Used: Access Virus TI (Virus C is fine too)

3) How to Create it:

- Start from an init patch.
- Filter Type: Analog 4 Pole
- Filter Cutoff: 22
- Filter Balance: -64
- Filter Env. Amount: 99
- Filter Decay and Release: 41
- Amp Decay: 77
- Amp Sustain: 0
- Amp Release: 14
- EQ Low: 93Hz +12.5dB
- EQ Mid: 1831Hz 0.82Q +16dB
- EQ High 7012Hz +16dB
- Add delay and reverb, done!

Pretty GJ DJ! That Kalafut & Fygle - 3579 synth sample is really killer! Tried to get the preset to open here but figured I no longer have Albino installed since my last re-format.

And Eldritch, that Madonna Remix synth of Above & Beyond's sounds pretty damn accurate m8. Keep it up, and what a detailed description of how to get that sound...if only I had a virus synth here...Grr...

eldritch, what did you use for that pad?

Posted by Eldritch on Aug-29-2007 12:41:

Synth1

I recommend everyone post the original sample too, for the best comparison of the song

eldritch, nice sound you made there... any chance you could redo that with some vst?

Beautiful clip mate, well done!

I followed these steps to the letter though, and well.... it doesn't sound at all like your sample

Assuming this is cause your osc's arent just left @ init settings right? Any modulation?

I might have overlooked something. I'll check on it later.
Here's a .mid patch of it. I added an Above & Beyond style bass sound as a bonus.
I'm not sure if it's compatible with the Virus C. It's exported directly from Virus Control.

Sure. I have already made a similar sound with Synth1. I'll see if I can improve it some, it's not exactly as good as the virus one.

Posted by MaX_TrAnCeX on Aug-31-2007 23:16:

eldritch i downloaded synth1, can you show what you did to create that pad? or if you downloaded it from somewhere.

thanks

Does anyone know how i can re-create that one unique sound (i think its a low pitch virus-ish instrument) from that classic Eurodance song "Sash! - Ecuador"...?

I'm talking about that part in the middle when it goes ECUADOR!! and then there is no kicks, and then this deep, bassy, sort-of arpeggiating melody kicks in (right before the main piano melody comes in).

Here's a sample.

That'll be a TB-303

sweet...any idea of what vst can emulate such a similar sound (specifically the one i put the sample of)?

oh every year some soft synth claims it but nobody has proven worth... i think east/west came out with a hip hop sample cd that had a lot of 303 samples on it.

Posted by mysticalninja on Sep-07-2007 06:55:

There are lots of good emulations.

Phycon, Audio realism bassline, mau, off the top of my head.

Posted by mtothejizzy on Sep-08-2007 21:28:

This is a cool thread and all but isn't all the fun of producing in the experimentation?

I've emulated tonnes of tunes over the years and remixed heaps of tracks and I had the most fun just playing with the sounds.

But a handy thread I'm sure anyways :-)

Posted by Diginerd on Sep-09-2007 00:14:

1st rule in making a successful track is to know what a successful track is...

I think it's great practice to go through exercises like this, not least of which it helps people develop their "Ear".

Can anyone make this.. Oh so THAT's what a 303 is!

You get the idea... the next evolution from this could be some form of competition with say 3-4 parts soloed and the challenge is to recreate them all, closest one wins.. Dunno what though.. :-)

Posted by SuPeRSaW2005 on Sep-09-2007 21:09:

yeah i dont think so either...sounds more like a virus to me (not sure though)
