Lucio Aquilina - Magic M [Cocoon]

Alright, so this has been spurned out of two other threads created here in the last few months, but I've been completely rolled over by the hype machine for this one, and I'm hoping that someone here on TA has at least a bit of new information on it's possible release, or whether or not some high quality copies have been making the rounds in the mean time.

Edit: Forthcoming on Cocoon.

Best sample I could find:

I've got a couple copies I found off of soulseek. Both are in 320kbps, but they're really quiet (I have to turn the trim WAY up on my mixer to match it with any other track), and there's massive skipping in all the copies I've found. In fact, for some reason it only skipped twice on my computer, but when I burnt it to cd to play there were about ten or twelve skips.

No info on a release, but it is a pretty nice track. I could do without that techno hardstyle-esque rubberband sound in the beginning that leads into the main melody. The melody seems to be introduced way too quickly after that marginally grating rubberband sound.

Can't wait to get a proper release of this.

Yeah, I have the same copies you do - and it fucks me off to absolutely no end.

I really like the way the whole thing is put together - and honestly, couldn't care less that this one will inevitably have the piss beat out of it and have the same people who loved it once, talk shit about it once it's released - such is the way of the EDM world.

I just want one.

Meh. It's good, but I dunno about "hype" for it.

Posted by RJT on Aug-28-2007 18:53:

Changed the title, forthcoming on Coccoon.

And Jake, regardless of whether or not the hype is warranted in your eyes, it's still there, and will unfortunately probably kill this one in its tracks.

Oh well.

Entirely my convictions. I wish he would have done more playing about with the main melody instead of using that rubberband noisy pap and then all of a sudden kicking in that melody.

So I'm not entirely sure what the issue is, but I have found 3 different high-quality files of this floating around with skips in different places.

Perhaps they put the skips in different places, and give it to different artists, and if it gets leaked, they know who has butterfingers. So if he gave a copy to ... DJ Suchandsuch, and there was a skip at 1:30, the next day its on slsk, they know it was DJ DJ Suchandsuch's copy.

I have had a copy of the promo on record since mid June. It does not skip...the one you guys found on p2p skips, simply because the label purposely leaked it to hype it more.

it does the job quite nicely but still is unplayable. Very intelligent.

say hello to Heater 2

What a great track!!

Heard ricardo villalobos spin it, just made me go crazy!

Posted by Master Kush on Sep-03-2007 06:26:

I'm really liking this tune. Great use of melody throughout the track and he also shows some interesting ideas from their use.

Posted by AlleN F on Sep-03-2007 06:33:

totally agree.
the only downfall might be its hype. Cocoon is already expecting this to be one of its biggest sellers of all time. You know what this propbably means. The biggest selling point i find with this track is the potential to really do things with it. Lets hope people take advantage of this.
There will be remixes released seperately later on as I am told, and I will give you the artists who are doing it when they confirm. (It's pretty much decided, I just don't want to look like a fool if it changes)

there is supposedly another EP on the way From Lucio...I think it will be on Adagio, but with that nothing is confirmed either.

If you use ableton, the skipping is not an issue...

this is my fav tune at the moment

totally loving it

I can't see this becoming as mainstream as Heater, at all.

Why is this a bad thing?

Posted by noikeee on Sep-11-2007 12:26:

I didn't say it was a bad thing.

I hope you're right

And the whole "Cocoon only put out skipped copies" is a load of bollocks too - all sorts of random ****s are starting to tracklist this, and I've just heard it in a set it had no place being in....
