So I'm doing this for a competition over at somethingawful's music section. Basically, people were supposed to sign up as either a songwriter and arranger, then everyone would be paired up and the arranger would make their own version of their songwriter's song. so the songwriter that was picked for me sent me a nice lil piece, just him and his guitar. So i figured i'd just go as far over the top as I could.

anyways, most of the stuff i've done with orchestral has been strictly instrumental and i start writing with no melodies or progressions in mind, so this turned out a bit different

anyways, listen and lmk whatcha think, what you'd change, etc

Everything was sounding fantastic until the brass section came in... sounded way too fake. Try a smoother attack on them, maybe some unison and reverb.

Other than that, I think the rest is pretty great man. If you want, you could keep adding layers and build it up sigur ros style, it has that feel to it.

but yeah, just listened on speakers and it does sound like crap
i'll fix that tomorrow

and as for the vocals, can't really do much about those; i'm just using what i was given
and trust me, i've done some work to them (what with the lo-fi) and it sounds way better that way
kinda hate the dude's voice

yeah
i was driving around an hour ago and listened in and i'm thinking french horns/trombones maybe
trumpets are too abrasive for it
maybe euphoniums?
