French/Disco House: The Forgotten Genre
A couple years ago I was really into French house and loved the groovy basslines and driving beats. The biggest names in French House in the early 2000's included artists such as Mischa Daniels, Dr. Kucho, Bob Sinclar, Ian Pooley, and Boris Dlugosch, but I go back to hear what they're doing now and I'm really disappointed. Mischa switched to Armada and his sound has really watered down, Dr. Kucho took a hiatus, Bob Sinclar made a horrible new poppy house album last year which isn't anything like the bangin' stuff he used to make, and Ian Pooley fell off the radar. What the hec happened?
I'm just now revisiting the genre because my collection is pretty old and I'm having trouble finding some new french house music so please guys make some recommendations and let me know if the scene is still alive. I've included some samples below to let you know the type of french house that I'm into. There's also some disco house in the samples too.

sorry but I have to disagree, Bob Sinclar???
Yep. Most, if not all of his work before his last album "Western Dream" is French House. He's also part of the Africanism All Stars and has worked with other notable french house artists such as Dimitri From Paris.
For me Bob's "Western Dream" album is a sad attempt to appeal to his United States fanbase with tracks such as Tennessee and World, Hold On. A lot of people ate that up and didn't know anything about Bob Sinclar until this album which is ashame.

anyway french house is far from dead, its just where its suposed to be, the underground. Check out the lable 'work it baby' managed by Kris Menace.
thx for reminding me of ian pooley.
I believe french house is dead. You should check disco house, ive always thinked disco house and french house were close.

Justice do produce some house tracks.
Come on that D.A.N.C.E tune was totally influenced by Daft Punk. Speed up the bpm and its one hell of a french house tune.

please don't, Justice french house?? Anyway for the ones that DO now what french house is, I've been checking out stuff from kis menace's label and I LOVE Le Knight Club's myspace go check it out.
They are a bit older but if you haven't ever gotten around to it, check out songs by Buffalo Bunch.
I consider Justice/Switch/Simian/Ed Banger/Kitsune Maison type stuff the "evolution" of the French filter-funk from the late 90's.
