working in france through the winter...
I've heard that it's difficult to find employment in France right now. I'd like to work, doing anything from dishwashing to sweeping, just to be there through the winter. I'm wondering if anyone can tell from their own experiences if this is a workable idea, a good city to find a job, under the table if possible, and a room to rent. I'm an average, hardworking Canadian male, 33.
Since no one is up at that time in the night, I'll do my best to answer you.
It's never been easy to find a job in France so I suggest that you start looking for a job right now. If you only wish to stay there during the winter, you might wanna try working in a ski station. All the people they hire are just there for the winter. The advantage of this would be that you have some place to crash (a hotel in which you would work for example). And the fact that you speak English is interesting for the winter season with all the foreign tourists coming to ski in the Alps.
Working in a big city like Paris just for the winter seems like an awful lot of trouble to me unless you know someone who can take you into their apartement or something.
Try ski stations, that(s what I would do if I were you.
By the way, I wouldn't count too much on being paid under the table especially if I were from another country.
Well, hope this helps and good luck. Don't hesitate to ask anything else.
