Yup

What's to discuss? You stated a fact, if you wish to create a discussion you should take a position that may illicit a response.

You can't "try" to suicide... you either do it or you don't. If you "try" and don't succeed, either you really are as much of a failure as you think you are, or you're starving for attention ("cry for help", as it were).

(There ya go, Mr. Hazard... figured I'd give the thread a little stimuli.)

Good work. I agree with you... it's not like you're downloading the trial version of self-inflicted-fatal-injuries v2.0 from mortalitysoft. I think Yoda said it best... "do, or do not, there is no try."

Of all the people in this world, Owen Wilson is one of the last guys that should be committing suicide.

lulz

kinda feel bad for the guy, cuz he is working on so many movies, and some of the movie studios are expressing concerns on whether he will be recasted or not.

Apparently he was a pretty serious heroin user! just can't believe it.... i mean i would expect that sort of thing from rockers, and porn stars, but not from owen.

holy crap never knew that, like you said hes the last person i would expect to be doing this type of shit, just another event that proves how much "money and success" can drive a person down to the grave.

You don't need a whole lotta money or success to foster a serious heroin addiction.

Are some of you seriously disillusioned about this? Did any of you know him or something? Celebrity status is something I shall never truly understand. How you can prefer one over another because of their personal lives? Do you not actually have enough control over yourself to realize that everything spoon-fed to you through media tabloids should be viewed with extreme scrutiny? Why would you knowingly fall into such a thing?

I just don't get it.

In any case, if you view practically anyone's life close enough and for a long enough period of time, you are bound to find some depressing or scandalous stuff. Maybe some of you should worry about yourselves a little more.

umm like i said i would expect that type of things from rock stars and such...to me he seems like a pretty down to earth type of guy based on what i perceive to be his image and character. the kind of guy that this type of thing wouldnt happen to. thats what makes it shocking to me anyhow. does that make sense now?

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Aug-30-2007 17:24:

I get it. Empathize with my confusion for a moment here though... if his image was built up to be of such pristine character...why did you believe it in the first place? That's what I don't get.

Some people seem to think that some celebrities are infallible. I fully realize that he usually plays nice/funny guys in movies and doesn't really have a long record of public debauchery, so hearing of him locking himself away like some sort of smackfiend Howard Hughes is news quite contrary to his popular image...I suppose I am just surprised that people are surprised is all. Everyone goes through shitty times in their lives. When it's televised, does that suddenly make the facts all that much worse or are we merely helping to turn that magnifying glass to its critical angle?

You said that better than I could've.

i hear what you are saying but your argument comes across as cynical and condescending as if you are above and superior to those who are surprised of this incident. sure people go through rough times whether they are celebrities or not but that does not negate the shock that accompanies these stories. that is how i feel
