HappyHappy Whos all ready to go into space?

do you think going to and from space will be easily available in our life time. I want to see the solar system.

Yes but the real question is will it be cheap?

You will start seeing flights within a decade but only if you can shell out a couple of million. If it ever drops to less than 50K, then I might seriously consider saving up.

50K sounds good for a trip to Neptune's outer orbit.

Put me on the list.

Oh all the way out?

Oh fuck no. Into a space hotel orbiting the Earth for sure. Maybe even a colony on the moon but that far out?

I don't see it happening soon if at all, for any human.

you wait and see.

They'd get knocked back at the door anyway.
No Tshirts, wifebeaters, thongs and no sneakers.

Posted by Project-K on Sep-01-2007 11:26:

Perhaps a trip to mars?

Posted by Rose on Sep-01-2007 15:45:

I want to go to Neptune

Posted by SuspicionVandit on Sep-01-2007 16:10:

i'd go on a non-returnable. Get past all the planets and float off into the unknown.

Space tourism is still in its nascent stage. However, you will be surprised to know how many companies are placing their bets on this sector. 10-20 years down the roads we will atleast be able to fly into the low earth orbit like the space shuttles, for a reasonable price. Within 20-30 years, we may even go to moon. Confine a trip around the solar system to your fancy imagination at the moment.

were not traveling through space already?

Posted by tubularbills on Sep-01-2007 17:44:

as far as "colonizing" on the moon or elsewhere, no. living in space? sure, the russians are already doing it.

Posted by Omega_M on Sep-01-2007 17:44:

Just the russians ?

Ever heard of Sunita Williams ?

yeah they've been there first (i think) and they have a lot of experience, cause the russian built Mir space station was manned continuously for about a decade. But with the building of the ISS, a lot of American astronauts have also been keeping residencies in space for long periods.

I know Virgin does space flights. The only problem is that their little plane is only able to stay in space for about 15 min
