Delta Audiophile 2496 Problem.

I recently bought Delta Audiophile 2496. It is installed successfully but the output sound is very low.

I think it needs an amp for higher output but what else i noticed was, after installing Audiophile, my Volume page on "Sound and Audio Devices", Control Panel got disabled.

Also, it doesnt show an option to show the icon on task bar. weird.

Any thoughts ?

you need to use the delta mixer to control the volume.. the standard windows mixer can't be used..

The Delta Control Panel you mean... doesn't make much difference.

OR can can one recommend any settings on Delta control panel ?

it's already a long time ago since i used a audiophile. but you can switch the outputs between consumer and pro in this panel. the consumer should be louder..

Absolutely right. On the M-audio Delta control panel (look in start>settings>control panel) and click on the hardware tab. Select consumer. Then make sure all the faders on the mixer page up.

This will output at consumer line level which means if it's no loud enough then it's either your source (sequencer/media player/etc volume too low) or your gain staging from the output of your soundcard (i.e. hardware mixer set up inccorectly or underpowered amp etc.).

Also, don't use the driver that came on the disk - go to the M-audio site and download the latest. Uninstall the disk one completely then doa frsh install with the newer downloaded one.

The Consumer thing worked. The rest of things are in place as said. Output has increased i feel..

ok, so the standard windows mixer wont work ?

I've already updated the drivers from M-audio's website since the one i got were 4 years old.

@ Rann, cyrus

Thanks a lot guys.

On a more serious note, should i still get a preamp ?

If you don't have anything useful to post, stay off.

What are you connecting the Delta 2496 to?

See the red and white icon, red background with a white arrow... in the system tray, the second one from the end of the icons near the clock? double click it. That'll bring up the M-Audio mixer.

Post a screenshot of the monitor mixer and hardware settings tab if you're still having troubles so we can see where your settings are.

you can still adjust the wave volume in that "sounds and audio devices properties" > "audio"

there you can find more "output" and "input" properties..
