Picard or Kirk?

For all the TA geeks! Who's your favorite star trek captain? Please explain why.

I vote Picard because i grew up watching The Next Generation.

vs.

ive watched every episode of next gen. so i say picard. watched many of the orig but got lame really quick although kirk is quite the pimp

i used to watch the original series every day after school on the space channel... so kirk has to get my vote

but this video almost makes me change my mind...



but then this classic moment in TV history shows who is the real captain

Patrick Stewart can make reading a phonebook sound interesting.

William Shatner on the other hand, was like David Hasselhoff of Star Trek. He was buff and that's about it. Not to mention DeForest Kelly (Dr McCoy pretty much outshone him in terms of acting ability.

Never liked Kirk much.

Picard FTW. Patrick Stewart is a seriously talented actor, no doubt due in part to his extensive work in theatre - where there are no second takes.

Also, Kirk just leapt at the opportunity to get into fist fights and seduce women (I'm getting to the part where Picard is better) whereas Picard knew how to diffuse a situation through diplomacy, but if you picked a fight he knew how to play rough. Repeated use of the auto destruct, willful intrusions into enemy space, going face to face with the Borg on numerous occasions despite all they had done to him and his genuine belief in the best of humanity, coupled with his willingness to bend the rules to explore it.

Besides, who ever heard of the 'Kirk Manouver'?

I voted for Kirk.....Back in the days sometime around mid 90s,I used to watch it after school on Star tv .Never really got in the next gen stuff.

I will not vote until all captains are available for voting.

aaaaaaand kirk never had the pleasure to meet Q. Q would've easily manipulated him. Now picard on the other hand...wow. sisqo and janeway never really were the same with Q as picard and him were.

they all grew on me after watching the both series. i will however put janeway in front of sisqo though. she had more guts than sisqo. not to mention that they were the only federation star ship in the delta quadrant (besides the equinox episode) while sisqo sat in a space station which could get help at any time.

i did like DS9 for the 2nd half of the series due to the war. those star ship battle scenes were remarkable. i loved it.

Early DS9 sucked and I couldn't get into it again until the Dominion started tearing shit up.

I dont know but about them, but George Takei left me an ENORMOUS tip when I waited on him last summer in Times Square.... so he is officially my favorite.
