My Wi-Fi Sucks
What kinda gear can I buy that will (significantly?) boost the signal?
Because this is starting to piss me off.
Cheers guys
Wrap tinfoil around your head.
A stab in the dark here but....
a signal booster perhaps?

something like that
omg
my friend just moved to chicago for school and his house isn't rigged for internet, but he found out his school has dialup
but he doesn't have a land-line
so he connects to his phone with bluetooth, then dials the dialup number with his phone
he's running at about 14.4

Check you're not using the same channel as another AP in the area.
Also check the frequency range of any other wireless devices, ie cordless phones.
Make a hread about it..
....oh wait..shoot.

i bought this not too long ago, and all you do is replace the original antenna that your router came with, with this one and you should get some good results.
strip the walls and remove the chicken wire.
the other points ^^^ are valid. I'd go with the extender.

make sure it's just the signal strength, first. Move the computer right next to the modem/router. It may still show a weak signal, which means a different problem.
It's definitely a signal problem, it works fine when it's inside, just sucks when I'm out on the deck.
It could be our cordless phone though, I hadn't thought of that.
Thanks guys
