Federer wins a record breaking $2.4 MILLION Dollars (U.S.) for the U.S. Open!
WOW.
Unbelievable. Federer just won the U.S. Open 2007, but he didn't only win the 1.4 million dollars for that tourney...
he also won an ADDITIONAL 1.0 million dollars for winning the U.S. Open series coming into this final Grand Slam!
UNBELIEVABLE. Jesus. 2.4 MILLION DOLLARS winning after a tennis tournament. Just amazing.
ALSO:
The U.S. Open is now ranked #1 as the most highly attended ever annual tournament event in the world!!
WOW. Another simply incredible record attached to tennis!
Bra-fucking-vo!
GO TENNIS!
Damn Federer he's just so damn good, except on clay court, can't wait for the next French Open, hopefully he'll finally win.

let's all start playing tennis maybe one of us is gonna win the equivalent of 2.4 mil in couple of years from now.
Congrats to him; took a lot of effort to get there.
pfft. If Tiger wins next week, he gets 10M

That there is a player (Nadal) that matches (exceeds apparently) Fed's ability on that surface , does NOT take about from HOW GOOD Federer is on that surface. The man's fucking INSANE on that surface as well, I'd say almost equally as good (almost). The thing is, there just happen to be 1 person who EXCELS at that surface even more than him... Nadal. But that in no way means the man isnt "good" on clay. Fed's a fucking clay master was well. And its a hard surface for 75% of hte top ranked players... clay is almsot ALL of hte top 5 or 10 players worst surface. That fed is quite practically just as good on clay as he is on grass and hardcord says VOLUMES about how insanely good he is overall. No, you cannot say that Federer isnt beyond amazing on Clay either. You simply cannot. |
OH... forgot to add, he also won a fucking BRAND NEW LEXUS IS 350 luxury sedan!
Fuck. What a killing he made. Jesus that is a BRILLIANT car, esp for FREE!
The IS 250 RW is my DREAM CAR!
I didn't mean he's crappy on clay or anything, I meant that it's gonna be really tuff for him to win the French open and have that notch on his belt, it's gonna be really bad if he retires without having that award. He still has a few years to go. Makes me wonder when Federer, will Nadal, Djokovic (sp?), Roddick, etc. have the type of supremacy that Federer had, cause they're all really young.
maybe Djokovic.. Nadal's body won't hold up probably, Roddick is getting up there (he's one year younger than Federer) and is unfortunately playing in the Federer era.

yeah, b/c the world cup is every four years and the super bowl takes place over one day. It's a record for an "annual" sporting event, so that could be a bit misleading. Still, 24000 people watching tennis is amazing in itself. That stadium is HUGE.

| Originally posted by Jem_hadar Federer has stated that he doesnt want to retire till AT LEAST 2012... hehe we got atleast another 5 years out of him... that puts him at 30, 31, which is a respectable age... but I think he can go the way of Agassi and keep busting records until mid thirties. Agassi held the no. 1 spot in 2003 or 2004 (forget which year) when he woudl have been 32 oe 33 I think after the Aussi Open, so still very possible and likley for Fed. I think Fed will one year in fact win it, and get that notch on his belt. Now, once he retires (pretend its even earlier than 2012), do I think those ppl will step up and dominate like he did? Roddick -- NO CHANCE IN HELL. He'll have one less person to oust him, sure, but he wont dominte. Him and Hewitt, as an example, are examples of players who are very good, top notch tennis players, but still wont ever be of the like of Agassi, Sampras (belch), Federer! (to pick from the most recent insanely good consistent over time players) Nadal -- Yeah, kinda. Def on clay, he'll now have like NO challengers to compete w/ him... and on grass/hard court... not sure... I think he could have a good rivalry w/ another player, but dont think he'll dominate those surfaces. I still think Nadal may end up killing his tennis lilfe early with the type of tennis he plays and the # of tourneys he plays in. The way he plays is SO INCREDIBLY hard on the body... all that top spin he generates... and all teh running arodnd he does... Djokovic -- oh yea! I think thsi guy could dominate on all surfaces but clay. hes good. so powerful... has incredible potential. |

more importantly, did you guys see Sharapova at the end of the match
someone start a Sharapove appreciation thread here.. complete with pics
some replies are too funny in this thread....roddick to dominate after federer retires in a couple years?
i miss TA sometimes with this kinda entertainment
as for today, feds despite losing to novak three weeks ago in montreal in 5th set tiebreak classic, proves that he's the most clutch player tennis has ever seen. he will win French before he retires that is a guarantee and he will break pete's record next year.
