Question BOA returning? (fact or rumour)

Man its been a long time since ive been on any of these electronic forums. But yesterday after spending the day at the Virgin Music Festival which i might add was simply amazing, i ran into several people in the industry (djs included *local & international*) and started shooting the shit. what i was shocked to hear is that boa is considering returning to the scene. according to someone i spoke with the sound system is in place. the location was not disclosed which is what i really wanted to know. I figured id ask here since all of you are in tune with the nightclub gossip.

great memories there (and great soundsystem!)

There's no room for Boa at this point in time in the scene.

that's definitely debatable....
Where are the after hours Sat night venues, besides guv and fw? Nothing replaced Boa/Sonic in that regard.

I think what Peter means is that there isn't a large enough crowd to support a club like Sonic.

Yes? No?

Posted by Skipper on Sep-10-2007 17:27:

depends who was running the sat night and what kind of talent they were bringing in.

Yea, more or less. Plus, Boa and Sonic weren't successful enough to operate long-term so why would there be replacements? I'm all for more clubs but I just don't think that anything close to the size of Sonic would sustainable in this city.

Oh for sure. But I'd say that Sonic was pretty good at bringing in some good talent on a consistent basis, and look what happened to them.

Yeah I 100% agree there is not much choice for afterhours.... we should just bring Sonic back as it was the best club in the GTA

For this to work, a lot of things would need to happen.

Friday would be gay night, Saturday straight. Gay and straight won't work together unfortunately.

Door prices for local DJs can't be $35 bucks. No one is going to pay that.

Booze would have to be incorporated somehow. Either like Stereobar or booze on special events.

It can't be just targeted to house lovers. Industry staff from other clubs and bars need to be taken care of.

This is still a rumour tho...

We aren't as openminded as Montreal! I was at Stereo on Saturday and I thought it was amazing how this gay and straight crowd was partying together. The only time I've ever seen a vibe as close as that here is when Chus and Ceballos is playing...
