Thumbs down Passive Aggressive Tactics

I hate them. I'm a very assertive, sometimes aggressive, person by nature. I can't fucking stand beating around the bush or not being forthcoming with people.

But my room-mate has forced me to stoop to passive aggressive behavior, lol.

He just doesn't get it, I'm not sure why. I guess cause he lacks common sense, and it's apparent he doesn't really THINK.

I asked him a few times, straight up, NOT to put organic waste in the garbage...because it attracts fruit flies. Who doesn't know that?? I also asked him NOT to leave food on the dishes he leaves in the sink, and NOT to leave food remnants in the drain.

I came home yesterday to find a quarter loaf of mouldy fucking bread in the garbage. We're not talking a few days of mould, we're talking like at least a week or two...and he had it in HIS ROOM. There were also banana peels and some other shit in there.

I was pissed, because I JUST told him last week he couldn't put shit like that in there.

So I wrote a letter. Oh yes. Here's what it said:

"Please do NOT put organic waste in the garbage. This includes:

- banana peels, apple cores, etc.
- any kind of fruit or veggie pits/peels/rinds/leftovers
- meat, cheese
- ANYTHING that can rot or mould (i.e. BREAD or CHEESE) and attract FRUIT FLIES!!

THIS IS GROSS!! Put it in a separate bag and put it in the downstairs garbage.

Also, please do not leave food in the sink or on dishes in the sink, or in the drain. It's gross! It smells!!

Thank You!"

I taped it up RIGHT above the sink. If the moron can't get it right this time, I'm gonna have to throw down.

COR Version: My room-mate is a gross dirty moron who needs to be reminded like a child how to clean up after himself properly.

Teach that fuck to compost, yo.

rags?

Tell him that organic waste is like the anus, it goes in there because it wants to become brown and it stinks if it's mixed around, and that normal waste is like the vagina because it accepts everything put in it, except the stuff that will leave scabs or insects wanting to get into it.

Man, it's not even an environmental thing. It's a straight up, "That's fucking disgusting" thing. Who DOESN'T know that organic material ROTS and STINKS and attracts fruit flies and such?? Fuck!

My anger about this is also compounded by his sheer stupidity.

I don't know if he'll get that. He's lived here for 2 months and has never had a girl over.

He also never washes his bed sheets. Every time he opens his bedroom door the smell of oily scalp wafts out into the rest of the house.

Lol, I know - I was just being typical

My way to resolve such an issue for myself lately has simply been to take the trash out every day.

hahaha. If it fails the following line is worthy

You are a messy and smelly cunt who will never have a girl over with sheets that smell like yours. Start with the little things like THE FUCKING LITTER and the big things will come in time.

See, I agree with that...but I refuse to continue cleaning up after someone else what they can clean up for themselves. If I had to keep doing it, I'd just get angrier and more resentful of my room-mate.

This way he's got no excuse, and if he fucks up my anger will be justified.

I'd like to see him give me that insolent tone next time this becomes an issue. Motherfucker.

LOL. I'll totally bust that out.

How can he not smell it?? I know that people usually get accustomed to their own scent, but it's pretty fucking obvious how bad his room smells in comparison to the rest of the apartment.

It has nothing to do with being a girl. It has to do with being hygienic. This is MY fucking apartment, and I like it CLEAN. Cleanliness isn't a "girl thing".

Posted by Zewad on Sep-11-2007 15:04:

if you own it.. (which i think you have said in the past you do, or family does or whatever) then you are the landlord... give him das boot... if not then you better pick your roomimes better...

if you dont own it then get your landlord involved if its so bad, b/c if your landlord doesnt care then you might be SOL..

regardless if its gross or not he lives there too and has a right to put apples or bread or whatever in the sink/ garbage..

It totally is.

Were your actions really passive agressive? Sounds like you were fairly straight forward to me (despite choosing a medium other then verbal communication). A passive agressive response would have been allowing the garbage and crap to build up until such time as he became disgusted by it or developed some nasty infection subsequent to larva infestation and was moved to clean his shit up and never let it get that bad again.

I was wondering the same thing.

No he doesn't, because his name isn't on the lease. I WILL kick him out if he can't follow my rules, now that I have them blatantly posted up.

you are right then... you win... give him das boot..

your letters have a whole lot more power then... also give him the consequences of him not following your rules...

he doesnt know what or how bad you really feel...

"If I find 3 more organic things in the garbage then you will have 1 month to vacate the property."

it'll be easy and in writing and if he is your roomie with nothing signed with you then you can kick him out today if you even wanted to
