[Prog Breaks] OrgaNik - Out Cold (OrgaNik's Knocked Out Remake) [Full 320]
I told you I'd do it, didn't I
A few weeks back I created Out Cold to test out my new PC and while the initial idea behind it was pretty cool it didn't quite turn out as good as I thought. So, naturally I had to revamp it completely to a more fitting prog breaks style.
I've added some meat around the bones, reworked the structure and made that darned bass change the key every now and then
Once again, though, the focus is more on the atmosphere than the melodies...
OrgaNik - Out Cold (OrgaNik's Knocked Out Remake) [7:37, 320kbps, 17.4MB]
Enjoy.
Sounded pretty neat.
I really like that lowpitched pad. Reminds me of my old tunes!
Think you need to make the drums and percs a bit more intressting tho. I lacks drive, try adding an open hihat on the offbeat after a while or something.
I think something more than that glassy pizz would carry on the track bit further.
The distorted pad sounds a bit too harsh also, maybe some EQ will help it.
Really chill beats man.
I agree with expanded on the harshness of the distorted pad. Seemed like a specific frequency/range. Perhaps there's some resonance there that can be subdued? Sub-bass could be modulated, given some character via some levels? Seemed a bit droning after a while.
Something else that caught my attention was that the percussion seemed to be a bit central. I AM listening on headphones since it's late, but, it's really up to you.
I think the drive, or lack thereof, is just fine. Don't think this is supposed to be a driving track. Am I wrong? I think it's great.
Again, diggin' the beats!
Can't say I noticed anything harsh about it.
I would however like to comment on the held sub bass. I know you're going for a particular style with this track but I think it would benefit from having some kind of variation in the bass. Not necessarily pitch variation, just pattern. One held note does tend to drone a tad.
Otherwise, I love it mate, good stuff.

I can hear one of the others. AH! as I'm writing, there's the other one coming through! Heh!
The held sub is a bit dominant. I like the other basslines, maybe you could make the sub less dominant by adding an LFO controlled LP filter or something, or even take it out completely in some sections so you can hear the other basslines. Just an idea. But like I said otherwise, cracking tune!

Sounds great. I love how this song rolls out. It really left me with a sense of intrigue and had a very lush sound to it. I fealt very euphoric listening to this tune and I almost hoped that it wouldn't end. I love it. Keep us posted.

Sounds fucking fantastic. (in the interest of full disclosure, i naturally love good breaks, and i favor atmosphere over melody usually
)
But yeah, awesome work man. What do you write with by the way?
ninja: one thing that bugged me a little. i'm listening just in firefox so idk how far in, but about a 1/3 of the way there's a minor breakdown and there's a pad that i can hear, much warmer than the one that comes in. I'd like that pad to be a little louder, but only a little. And maybe not even, i dunno.
edit2: if you break it up and count off each quarter note in 8's (so 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and etc etc), there's a sound you use as part of the percs that hits on the '8 and' that i swear is in fretwells remix of vodka cranberries
Top stuff.
Distorted lead is gorgeous, and very unique.
I like this track.
The distorted synth sounds amazing.
I don't know why but I'm expecting a bell-like sounding arp after the break but as you said, you focus on the atmosphere. It's good this way too.
I like this
9/10

i Agree it's great track. The atmosphere is nice and lush.
I just think the track is bit to long or it needs more soundscapes to justify it's length.
The distorted pad is really cool, Did you use a synth for that? My guess would be the malstrom heh
nice one
cool beats, and good mixdown!
Hey, really nice, dont listen to breaks often so a change is always cool
really atmospheric- the one thing i'm not keen on is the rising lead thing that hits at the start of every other bar, other than that yeah its cool!
Cheers,
Alex
Nice chillout track.

Is it my imagination or have you increased the distortion on the main pad? It seems to sound a slight bit harsher than it did before.
Anyway, loving the revised percussion and the extra pads in the background. The track feels much more complete now.
Good work.
great shizznizzle mate... good outro track.... i also use reason and i can definitely recognize myself in this... getting 4.0 next week! woot!
keep on groovin mate

I've listened to both versions now (original and breaks remake), i definately like the breaks version better
Can't say much more right now, as I'm a little bit ill and can't concentrate on any details too much, but this is good stuff
good stuff here. Beatwork is nice, i like it. A few constructive comments. A bit too watery for my taste as far as reverb goes, you seem to apply it to most of the track's elements and it ends up diluting the punchiness of the whole composition. Also, one of the sound fx you use througout the track is way overused - the one that starts at 00:59 and continues hitting every 8 bars.
The lead is nice, but reminded me steve helstrip's signature thrillseekers lead
Pretty nicely done, quality work here
heey!
gr8 job!
[3:58] beginning wave - it's not to loud?
best wishes!
