Or they could use Google. A couple of hours is really all you need for a complete background check - it's incredibly easy to tie it all together.

How exactly is an employer going to tie your real name with your alias on some message board?

Overlooking, of course, the obvious reality that no employers are going to waste their time scouring Google for what each applicant posts online.

Well, you might be surprised to know what some employers do to get the info on their employees or potential candidates.

Employees: sure, I'll agree, some companies are pretty anal in terms of monitoring those that work there. But potential applicants? It's time-consuming (and not worth it) to tie each name on a resume to their online persona (if they even have one - worst case scenario and one that will fuck you over the most if you're the one stuck doing the screening job).
