DJ Joop

I am looking for music from DJ Joop. I just heard his live set at Trance Energy and was looking for other DJ's with the same style of trance. Just check out http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=joop

I am sure you will like the future. There is one song after that on the live set that really fuking kicks. I don't know the name of it or where to purchase his album. I have called record stores in london, turkey, New York City, Philadelphia(my hometown) But it seems that no one has ever heard of him.

I am hoping that one of you guys/girls has heard of him and can help me find music similar to his.

The type of music that he creates is so far the only type of music that can "activate" the MDMA feeling. You know that feeling you get when your rolling, yeah that one. His songs can do that...

I am not the raver that I once was...come to think of I have only been to one rave in D.C. I don't remember the name..I have the flyer somewhere....

Anyway, I've since grown up and still listen to trance( I developed a liking to it. There's no words to concentrate on so it works very well when I am at the club obviously, but outside the club I use it for background music when I am cleaning, coding, latenight linux installs, pretty much all activities where lyrics will steal my attention.

Up until I heard DJ Joop I haven't thought about 'E' for almost 5 years now.

For some wierd reason as soon as the song (the closing song from the LIVE set at Trance Energy..right after The Future time:1:00:06)started, I felt different....i didn't know what it was at first(you know, like the first time) but after about 5 seconds of trying to figure it out what it was, the rush hit me, right down my spine into my legs and back up to my face. Then the set was over.

What a fucking song!

I think it sparked a memory or a flashback or something but all I know is I want to feel it again(not from half assed watered down E pills that probably contain 4% MDMA if any whatsoever, from other types of music).

Has anyone else ever felt this "flashback" effect and if so, what DJ's were they ?

Also I am really only looking for music similar in style to DJ Joop, not that panzy ass commercial vocal trance that you can buy at FYE. I am talking real RAVE music.

You are familiar with Dj Joop?...i See, You are Leon Boiler..Well I am checking out your website too and you have some equally entertaining music. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post.

I am very happy that you responded to my post so quickly.Thank you for your input. Do you know the name of the song that he played right after "The Future" The one that is only about 1:30 long? Is there an extended version. Any other songs by him similar to this?

What DJ's are currently creating sounds like this? Is there a specific name for this style of trance that would make my search easier? Where can I purchase an album? What equipment do I need to create sounds like this?(Just turntables and a good mixer? what kind of mixer?) What influenced him to create music like this.

Is he plannig to come to America any time? If so when? Are there tour dates for locations in Europe he will be?

I apologize for all the questions. Since you said that "we" produced it I assume you are involved in the recording of it. I would like to say I have waited YEARS to find music like this and thank you for creating it. IF you could pass that along to Joop I would greatly appreciate it.

I am not a crazy person. I am just excited because I found somthing I have been looking for for a very long time. I would like to support DJ Joop and you, and purchase any music he/you have for sale. (This would be my first music purchase in about 10 years).

Thank You for taking time to answer my question. Please PM me back with any answers you are comfortable with answering.

You are going to need at least three Pioneer CDJ 1000's and an Allen & Heath Xone V6 mixer to create jooptoons. I've been in the industry for years and I know almost every sound he created was only possible with this equipment.

Get familiar with trance a little bit and you'll see Joop is nothing special.

My bad. I guess it was just a huge rumour floating about the tiesto forums around the time when Sonsuz came out.

Posted by Smiley :D on Sep-19-2007 09:46:

i get weird E flashbacks when i listen to:

Fred Baker & Greg Nash - Lunar Eclipse
Kuffdam & Plant - Summer Dream (S&T)

i first heard lunar eclipse when i was on 300mg of pure MDMA, and i kepy hallucinating that i'd heard summer dream, so whenever i hear them now i get this immense feeling of nosalgia and lunar eclipse makes me randy as shit for some reason

Posted by stevo_0 on Sep-19-2007 11:42:

i think u can achieve that state with alot of trance. its just trying to get yourself in to that state of mind, where u really are in 'entranced' and the music has complete power over u, and when it kicks after some buildup, and breaks down, u feel that exhilirated euphoric feeling. Personal note, i have never done X to trance

bolier, not boiler

anyway the track after the future in our liveset on TE was act of god. I think it was created by Joop and Benno de Goeij (from Rank 1).

@ iammesol, yep thats internet aint it

Thank You Leon Bolier for you response. Thank you all very much for your input. Keep it coming. What are the best places on earth to RAVE at? I am an american that has never been out of this country. Next year I plan on traveling to Europe and I want to go to a REAL rave. Any suggestions? Points of interest? I will definitely be consuming things that will alter my state of mind at these raves. So what are teh best spots for a n00b raver to explore when in Europe?

And this, friends, is what is wrong with the "trance scene."

Utter confusion and ignorance on a massive scale.

They have these things called forums on the "internet" which is a series of tubes. When people, who lack knowledge of a topic or the answer to a question, go to these forums the usually do something called posting a question.

Posting a question is very similar to asking a question. Human beings usually to that when the would like to gain knowledge about something they don't already know. In these forums people post responses which, in turn, may or may not answer the above said question(s). You sir, have successfully completed the latter and I applaud you for that. I am glad you took time out of your busy day, of calling everyone else around you and idiot, to call me an idiot.

I appreciate that and I feel very special(go ahead lay it on me)

I apologize for not being born with all of knowledge in the world, especially the most important knowledge of creating trance music with synthesizers and DAT machines. Flange and wah effects are propable your specialty.

I would appreciate any help in creating trance music myself and you sir can go fuck yourself with a big rubber dick. Good Day to you!

If you want to actually produce trance, as in make your own unique tracks or remix others' tracks, then you need some combination of hardware and software that will allow you to create music. Ask in the Production forum or read some stickies in that forum for more advice.

If you want to just mix trance, like DJs do at a live performance, you need either turntables, a mixer, and vinyl or some CDJs, a mixer, and some CDs/MP3s. If this is the route you wish to go, read some of the discussions in the DJ Booth forum. You'll find the Pioneer CDJs recommened if you want to mix CDs and the Technics turntables recommended should you wish to mix vinyl.

Then it's a matter of finding out which producers and record lables you like. Always check www.discogs.com to find producer's many aliases. To hear quailty samples, go to www.beatport.com or www.audiojelly.com and give songs a try before you purchase them. Here is the Discogs entry on Joop, for example: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Joop?noanv=1
