who's going to the states for shopping?

the dollar is at 98.37c!!!

my sis says to come down with an empty bag, gonna stay for a week for sure. P

Prices are cheaper there too.. retail is much cheaper (I've heard about 25%) than Canada to begin with.

i have no way to get there

i wanna go shopppppping i'm sick of mtl stores

I went shopping in Plattsburgh this summer and clothing is much much cheaper!!! But there's no big brands or anything. Its good for some dressed shirts and pants, some cheap polos at 12$ a pop at aeropostal, but thats about it.

good point. It's a deal if you already HAVE to go to US or if you can save costs by staying with ppl, traveling in groups, etc.

yeah but plattsburgh cost like 20-30$ in gaz (you fill up at 75cents when coming back to save more).

maybe not driving to the US to shop, but I sure as hell have been spending more time shopping on ebay.

no shit i remember i used to come to Toronto to go shopping a lot in 2001, now the same stores are cheaper in the U.S. Try shopping in Vegas we have everything.

Vegas does have some great shops. Especially the mall near the Wynn.

no matter how good the economy in canada becomes, people will always be held down by the fucking rediculous prices and taxes on EVERYTHING!!!!

gas, cell phones, food, day to day item + 15% tax. it really sux and that is why i have not moved to canada even though i love it there.

Vegas is nice for shopping but the huge name stores are still so overpriced, like everything out there except shitty food/items so when you are there you don't really care hehe
I went in January and there were a lot of nice sells

one thing every time i buy something the states and i look at the bill, i pretty much laugh because the taxes are so low.

in new hampshire there is 0 tax. in massachusetts 5% also no tax on food and clothes.

i bought something at aldo in eaton center the other day and it said $40, after taxes it came to $46, that is borderline communism at its finest.

a gillette fusion razor is $20 after tax in montreal, in the usa its $9. in usa we have no roaming or long distance on cell phones, it is all the same as calling next door. up here my girlfriend has to get a calling card to call newfoundland from montreal. Not to mention the taxes you guys pay on your wages.

yes the usa has many foreign policy problems, but when it comes to stuff here in the usa itself, things are always very nice. i like having a choice for health care and education and keeping my money for me, rather than fund social programs. that is how i have been able to bring all these fine artists to montreal

yeah but their social programs aren't as good.. there's a reason for low taxes. Canada is a much better country to live in if you're a skid

the cell phone thing sort of getting better now, but not really. i think now if you are with rogers you can call anyone with a rogers mobile number or home number, anywhere in canada and its like a local call, but not sure about that.

i knew about NH with 0% bastards! Hawaii it is like 4.8%.

HAHAHAHA taxes on income here is pretty which I do not mind, pretty much free education and meds. Just wish all the doctors in Quebec would stop running out of this province though
