World in Conflict = Awesome

This is one of the best games I've played in quite a while...It's a fast-paced strategy game based on capturing command points and dominating the enemy. There is no boring stuff like building bases or mining resources...100% of the strategy involves rock-paper-scissors battle decisions. Every class has it's own strengths and weaknesses, and calling in the right units at the right time to smash the enemy is a very satisfying experience. You also have special abilities at your disposal like chemical strikes, napalm, laser guided bombs, etc

I'm not gonna say any more..

Just read the freakin reviews!

and get the demo HERE (make sure to do the tutorial first if you don't want to get Pwned)

Here is the IGN video review:

EDIT:

Circuit City has the game for $39.99 with free shipping. If you want a copy, act fast!

Re: Re: World in Conflict = Awesome

I disagree

I tried Supreme Commander...my God what a bore... It takes at least 10 minutes just to prepare yourself for a battle. With WIC, you jump right into the thick of things from the start...meet the enemy head on, and see who has the best strategy on the battlefield. No BS...just good old fashioned WAR BABY!!

which has absolutely nothing to do with my previous statement oh, and if it takes you 10 min to prepare for a battle that just means you werent very good

Does the single player have a campaign for both US and Russia, or only the US?

I've been meaning to try this out. Will check out the demo soon.

You're playing single player? You weirdo!

I haven't touched single player since day one...I prefer the unlimited air strikes and carpet bombings you can do in multiplayer. It's much more satisfying to flatten a group of buildings when other players are in them.

Posted by ARNATINE on Oct-25-2007 14:49:

yeah but i dont have cd key for multiplayer

I found a great hack for World in Conflict that I've been dying for ever since I started playing. By default, the camera height is limited to around 40 feet off the ground. You can go anywhere on the battlefield, but you can't go UP to get a better view of things. This hack changes that. It basically sets the camera free, so you can zoom all the way out and have a bird's eye view of the battlefield (just like Supreme Commander...only much better)

The first thing you need to do is change the target of your shortcut to World in Conflict in order to allow access to the developer console while in game. To do this, right-click on your shortcut, select properties, and in the target box where the Operating System is pointing to your WiC executable file, add to the end "-console".

here is a pic showing where to add the text:

When in game, hit the tilde key (~) and this will bring up the console. Type "camerafreedom" and be prepared to experience World in Conflict in an entirely new way. I find this camera mode most useful when playing air, placing TA strikes, and using artillery...but it really is an all around kickass hack. You can use it in both single and multiplayer modes

one final tip..Do the tutorial first to learn the ropes, and don't forget to use the mouse scroll wheel. When you click and hold the scroll wheel, you can change directions ultra fast with the camera...much faster than moving the mouse to the edge of the screen and waiting for it to pan around.

That's it...See you on the battlefield.

My name is -101st-Lawlcaeks

thanks for the tip! but please, don't pretend the zoom is anywhere near as cool or as useful as the one in supcom, tsk tsk

Has this even come out yet?

Or is it like BSG is the best show of all time? Oh wait, no it's not. Your own hopes and creams crushed themselves. You know you've become a SupCom fanboi right?

i wasn't a fan of the third season, but i still think its the best scifi show that has been written. but the fourth and final series will confirm (or deny) whether it is truly greater than babylon 5 for plot and story arc value. we shall see.

nonsense. i accept the weaknesses of supcom just as i acknowledge its strengths. the fact that most other people can't appreciate the stark differences between supcom/FA and all other RTS does not make me a fanboy ive been waiting to play WiC for AGES, and am looking fwd to it.

having taste, strong opinions and generally higher standards than most peasants that post on TA does not make me a fanboy either

um, i didnt see what was so impressive about that camera? no different to anything else really. maybe slight added functionality. great draw distances though!

the camera in supcom dramatically effects gameplay, that's why i love it.

Posted by Capitalizt on Nov-02-2007 04:19:

Supcom you have no angles...no changing viewpoints. You can't see the beautiful trails your missles leave as they arc away from you in the sky. It's a boring top down view the entire time...bleeeeeehhh! WIC Pwnz it

sorry, that's just incorrect. you can view the game from any angle you want. it IS a proper 3D simulation after all. you can also track missiles as they leave their silos to get a really close-up view of the carnage.

come on, if youre gonna criticise a game you must know a little bit about it. tsk tsk!
