Sonnox Oxford Plug-ins

Anyone had any experience with these??

Are they better than Waves at all??

They're much better than Waves.

That's not a hard feat though, Waves is overpriced shit. They're "industry standard", like Technics 1200s. Obviously there are way better turntables out there than 1200s, for a fraction of the price, but everyone buys them because it is the done thing.

IMO, the Sonnox plugins are at the pinnacle, quality wise. As a bundle, there is nothing which competes with them. Individually, however, you will find alternatives of a similar quality. Although they are fantastic, I think they're well beyond the point of diminishing returns, in terms of price. If you mix and match the best VSTs from other companies, such as Sonalksis & WaveArts, you could get the same quality level for much less.

the sonnox plugins are really awesome. i use the complete bundle since some months now and they just work great on almost everything i put them on.

like echosystm said, waves are overhyped and aren't (anymore) on the top. and with bundle discount of 40% and some other nice shop discount you can get them really cheap this days and epsecially the native version which aren't limited to the poor processing power of a powercore.

The Sonnox Dynamics, Limiter and EQ are really really good in a hard to explain kind of way.

Sonalksis SV-315 is really good too on the compressor/limiter front and costs less than the hardware required to run Sonnox plugs and comes in VST format.

But. Kjaerhaus GCO-1 costs way less than Sonalksis and is just as awesome as far as I can tell. I would say that GCO-1 is the best bang for buck analogue compressor emulation you can get right now.

EQ wise, I like Sonnox EQ but from a workflow perspective, you can't beat Voxengo GlissEQ. Its the spectrum analyser built into it with overlays that does it for me. I can compare spectrums from 4 separate channels and calibrate the graph accordinging so I can visually see what I need to EQ out. It sounds pretty good. I think its the best value paragraphic EQ you can get which has awesome workflow.

Sonnox are available as VST now man.

They're actually cheaper than their PoCo/TDM siblings. Funnily enough, they use bugger all CPU usage too. That really blew the wind up elitist DSP wankers!

yeah, on the powercore you can use 1 (ONE) full sonnox eq per DSP (so 4 on one powercore) on my amd x2 4400+ it uses around 1-2% cpu
