Where to find these good samples?
Veng. Essent. Club Sounds 1 & 2 are old today, aren't they?

It does not matter if they are old or not dude, a good source sound is paramount

No, dammit, you can't use samples over 2 months old. They are just sooo played out.

You can start re-using them a year or two later and call them classics, though.

as was dicussed in another recent thread, VEC or a bit dated, and over processed but there are still some deadly kicks in there. get VEC 2 and use the UK trance Kicks . theres some nice stuff in there

tight, punchy, but maybe not that powerful...

I'll take the opportunity of this thread to ask a noobish question :

In Acperience 1 by Hardfloor, the initial kick line goes like

x---x---x---x--xx---x---x---x

It is then repeated, but the kick is more wet, more "deep" I would say...

How is this effect obtained ?

its a 909 with lowpass and slight velocity tuning on the last kick.

to get back to topic. a few clean 909 kicks with different decay are all you need.

thats what most common bassdrums come from.

you can process them with eq, compression, distortion, reverb, or layer them with other samples.

A kick with more decay in the mids gets layered over the low kick.

Aceperience 1 is an excellent piece of music, and proves that a tight, punchy kick has jack shit to do with a stomper.
