REVIEW: BT, Austin Leeds, etc. @ Pawn Shop Sept 22, 2007
OK, I have lived in Miami my whole life but have yet to go to Pawn since they usually play house music (which I am not a fan of), so when I walked in I thought the club was nice and trendy. Really like the bus and the airplane and the DJ booth being an old truck, but enough about that since I am sure you all have gone to Pawn before :P
My friend Jackie, Javi (JD8180) and I got there around 12:30, and the crowd wasn't bad. The club was not completely empty but it wasn't full either. I AM PISSED THAT I PAID $40 FOR MY TICKET AND MY FRIEND AT THE DOOR PAID $25!!!! But I digress...
I don't know who was playing in the main room but the beats were decent. Turns out that BT was set up to play outside and it was HOT!! They could at least put some fans on or something!! The sound in the main room wasn't bad; I have read reviews saying its a bad sound system, but it turns out they put extra speakers last night.
Austin comes on like around 1:00 and his set was nice. I don't know any house tracks by name but he did play the one that says La Musica de Casa which cracked me up cause it sounds like someone from Miami made that song
Austin looked bored while spinning at first but then he got into it which was nice.
BT did not go on till 2!!!! :P He played old breaks which was fun, the song that has a weird countdown in it (42, 18, 5, 3) For those of you that went to Ultra 2002 where he played the 20 min Dreaming on the main stage, he played the countdown song that night too, I hope someone ID's the track! He also played Flaming June and Simply Be Loved. It was too hot though, so after an hour in the heat we headed to Space to see SVD
Oh, and the bouncers ARE TOTAL PRICKS!!
Whoever went please ID tracks
i still thought the sound sucked both inside and outside, adding more speakers all it did was just make the highs piercing... enough that at points almost the entire club had to cover their ears.
I thought the setup outside was perfect... a bit hot I guess. Sound was OK inside and good outside IMO. My first time @ Pshop, it's awesome. They def need some sound impovements inside.
Opener for Austin was playing mostly cheesy vocal electro but Austin played it proper. The floor was a bit weak when BT was on though.
BT. He is doing some amazing things with his live setup. Music was phenominal all night... very high energy stuff. Started with breaks but eventually went into a standard beat. Flaming June along with that other trance classic from ages ago, ID anyone?
Would have enjoyed to see SvD, next time.

That countdown track you're asking about had to have been BT - Fibonacci Sequence.
