ableton wet/dry amount

Hello

I wonder if there is any possibility to set amount of wet/dry for each plugin in ableton?

For instance if I put filter over a synth, I would only like filter to affect synth for 50%. (the same way as its possible in fruity)

I'd like to have smoother fade outs, so that effect plugins would slowly overlay the particular sound/s..

I hope you get what I mean

use a return/send mate.

Return/send doesnt work that way as far as I know..

I think it just sums up (for instance) synth's sound + effected amount of synth that is being sent to send/return channel..

In other words its the same if I make 2 identical channels, lower one's volume down and put filter over it. (volume is identical to send amount)

Correct me if I'm wrong.

thats all a dry/wet signal really is on a fx box... it tells the the plugin how much of the signal to let pass thru and how much to effect. if the plugin doesn't come with a dry/wet knob you need to automate the volume between the dry channel and the wet channel

Fruity doesnt work that way.. I thought there might be similar option in Ableton

nec, what effect are you trying to create? For example, if you have a low pass filter acting on a sound, then you bring the cutoff frequency down, you still want the high frequencies coming through? So if you wanted the filter to affect the sound by 50%, say, if you turn the cutoff frequency all the way to 0Hz so it cuts everything for the affected portion, the unaffected portion is still coming through with all frequencies. So you basically end up with the original sound at half volume, is that right?

Depending what you're trying to do, a send/return loop could well do the job. Each program has different ways to get different things done. It's good if you can use a number of them working in tandem and take advantage of each one's possibilities!

Try this.. in the send channel, put your effect (reverb, delay, etc) and then at the end of your chain put a Utility with both left and right phase reversed. Now the send knob becomes a dry/wet control. It's not perfect, but it works.
