Am I pretty much the only person in the world who's never played Halo?

Posted by The Arbiter on Sep-25-2007 08:31:

Pretty much. I love the game (Apart from Halo2, which was a massive, MASSIVE dissapointment) and I dont see why people dis it so much on this forum.

I've managed to avoid playing it or any version thereof, sort of reminded me of a version of Quake which was made like the plastic scissors they used to give the slow, weird kids in primary school that started fires in garbage bins and ate glue.

Strange, I dont remember any of that at all.

if i were one of those wankers that quoted other people in their sig, i'd quote that. fucken lol.

and i agree 100%

as a console game halo was excellent, but it doesn't compare to any solid PC title of the same era.

go and play UT or Q3 etc and you'll see what i mean

Posted by The Arbiter on Sep-25-2007 11:11:

I have played those games, intensively. If you look at Halo like that than you fail because games arnt generally supposed to conform to deathmatch style gameplay. Halo bend's more toward's tactical shooter than DM. If you like DM style games only than fair enough, but a comparison between Halo and Q3 is inherently pointless and is not and effective way to debunk Halo.

Posted by Sunsnail on Sep-25-2007 11:48:

Halo, a tactical shooter? :|

Posted by The Arbiter on Sep-25-2007 11:57:

Yeah, that's the point. It can't be classified into any certain genre and a comparison is impossible.

oh gods...

then you shouldnt have to ask why i referred to halo as slow.

youre an idiot. i never said that it had to conform to anything. you asked a question, and i told you why i didnt like it- its too slow. did i say "omg its not quake" ?

oh yeah sorry. my mistake. that's why the extreme "tactical" nature of this shooter had deathmatch and team deathmatch as 50% of its multiplayer modes (at least, memory is a bit foggy). tactical shooter don't give the games airs it doesn't deserve.

halo is an unrealistic shooter played in a deathmatch fashion, circle strafing included. so a comparison to any other unrealistic shooter where you circle strafe aliens is a completely valid point. so don't be such a fool.

wow, perhaps you should pay attention to TA user Arbiter coz he at least knows how to string a coherent argument together. again, you asked me what i meant by "slow". that is all. so stop putting words in my mouth.

but, since you raised it- halo requires far less skill than almost any shooter i've ever played. it was slow and painful to play. the only reason halo is big is because of xbox, pure and simple. it doesn't hold a torch to any decent PC shooter made in the same era. possibly the worst MP FPS ive ever played (of any title of note). boring, slow. its a fanboy's game, to be loved by those with relatively minor experience in topnotch shooters (ie the casual console market).

are you fucking kidding me? fuck man, its like you think it was the second coming or something games like deus ex or bioshock are difficult to classify. halo, no.

honestly, kids today
