Interview with Paul van Dyk, 01 Sept 2007
Not sure if it is the right forum since there wasn't one for interviews or media. Our pleasure to share with all of you the interview we did with Paul van Dyk.
Interview with Paul van Dyk, 01 Sept 2007

Trance Republic had the honour of interviewing the Worlds Number One DJ Paul van Dyk, from Berlin, when he was down in Singapore on the 1st of September 2007.
It was like the other people making a big fuss over it, like we didnt use it as a marketing pushword whatever, like some other inhabitant of that position before, whom you basically dont really know what they have done, all you know is they have been Number One DJ, and... Im not naming anybody
Want to find out who PvD is referring to? Or regarding his latest album In Between? And apart from his music productions, what is his stance on socio-political issues? Heres your chance to find out more about the Worlds Number One DJ in our 30min special interview segment. But before we go on, Trance Republic would like to thank Zouk for arranging this interview with the Worlds Number One DJ Paul van Dyk.

What do you think and what are your comments?
That was a good read. Heh, not a trance DJ for the past 2 yrs eh?
I swear...he really has it for Sasha...always saying he's his fav DJ...wants to DJ along side him...in various interview..now wants him in the Top 3....I agree..but whats up....are they friends or something.
i gues hes more for german Dj-s
i like what he said about tiesto lol
Halliwell and PvD on a project...that would nice...
seeing that Halliwell doesn't really do much production

| Paul van Dyk: Well since I dont consider myself as a being a Trance DJ in the last 2 years, there wasnt a Trance DJ on Number One! |
Seems like I dislike Paul every day a little more. He's becoming like the arrogant prick Tiesto is even thought he tries to use words to make it seem otherwise. At least that's how I see it.
interesting read, but nothing that hasnt been mentioned before really, bar the eddie halliwell colab.
i knew he rated eddie, but this came as a suprise.
He just seems like a really unhappy person to me...
that was a decent read. I was also surprised by the 'I haven't been a trance DJ for 2 years' comment. That seems ridiculous. I sort of agree with whoever mentioned he doesn't seem happy. It's almost like you get the feeling he hasn't been too excited with the music he's been playing the last few years.
I love how PvD says "There isnt anything that actually is stereotype trance music on there and I dont think I ever did it. "
and right after the interviewer asks "How was it like working with Jessica Sutta, a pop singer, who had never sing to vocal trance before?"
Also, the interviewer really wasn't able to maintain a good interview, it really seemed like Paul Van Dyk was bored most of the time. And too many useless questions relating to the same subjects...

I never voted for Paul van Dyk for the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Contest. Because I don't like his attitude. He, Digweed, Sasha and Paul Oakenfold are in same field. They are not that interesting to talk to, unlike the Dutch DJs such as Ferry Corsten, Sander van Doorn.
As a disclaimer, I am in no way defending the DJ Mag poll with this post. However...

Ferry and SvD are extremely nice too, on and off the decks. I like that PvD is always real and none of that 5 minute jesus pose or random smiles that feel so fake like a certain Dutch DJ that will likely get #1 this year. I recall NYE 05 in Vegas meeting a girl who interviewed both Tiesto and PvD a few days back (both were in Vegas for NYE) and said PvD was her most favorite person to interview so far. It also really depends how much a person is traveling especially someone as big as PvD.
Paul has always been a bit arrogant, and oftentimes doesn't like to label himself a Trance DJ. Yet that's exactly what he is.
And what kind of record did he think he was going to make with someone from the PCD if not a Pop one?
At the same time, I love his sets, and I love the fact that he gives a damn about the world and is involved with charities. He's involved with making education a priority in Germany, and he's someone who doesn't take democracy for granted.

| Digweed is really nice off the decks and just concentrates during his set much like SvD |
