Jobs or majors?

Just wondering what all of you do for a living, or if in school, what you plan to do for a career?
I go to pharmacy school where I learn mostly science related shit. It is a six year major

Disgrace

I fucking hate college and university and all that other shit. everyone has a degree theses days and the people i know all work at mcdonalds, i left school and when straight into a low paid job and worked my place in the finance industry, i wanna be a network techie , but you need 3years experience, how are you suppose to get experience when u need experience to do that job , its all a disgrace, i get taxed to fuck and NI and pension, im left with a fucking carrot and a bean.

Posted by AnotherWay83 on Apr-24-2002 18:12:

most definitely major...u mite think now that college/uni is all shit, but trust me, ur degree will definitely come in handy, the advantages of going to college and then working far outweigh the disadvantages...

btw, im in college and i have a small part time job on campus, as a lab helper..they call me "lab technician" heheh even tho i dont know shit

i have a major in business management with a minor in international relations, but it means fuck all to me at the moment, as I cannot work legally in this country. (no green card) Still have russian citizenship. I do psych experiments for going-out $, over in the psych building on campus, it's quite nice actually! Each experiment pays about 9 dollars, and they last about 40 min. Prostituting my mind , in a sense.

cheers
Ilina

I say major. I myself am currently majoring in Economics and will probably double in Psychology. So basically I'll will all my policy arguments.

Dave: "Are you sure the Aggregate Supply is perfectly vertical"

Manipulated economist: "i..I...I DON'T KNOW!!!" ::sobs uncontrollably::

Well, I go to a community college right now (doing terrible)

I went in with the named major of Computer Engineering. I soon learned that lines of code were possibly the most boring and tedious shit that has ever been created!

So I sat around for a while do exactly fuck off, untill I finally figured, what the hell, follow my dream.

So I'm going to take a year off of school and save up money to go to a technical university to get my bachelors in Recording Arts!

I love being able to say "Oh, your majoring in computers? have fun in cubicles! I'm majoring in Trance!" lol. I'm hoping to be a freelance Trance producer!

Posted by Sarcoman on Apr-25-2002 03:05:

I graduated Uni last year, finishing with a Specialist in Human Biology. My marks werent good enough so I never moved on to Med School. Right now I work as a Trainer in Financial Services (Banking), and am applying to Teachers College, to teach senior level Biology and Chemistry (i hope).

I graduated with a business degree, majoring in accounting, minor in finance. Worked for 6 months at a big firm and decided fuck that and quit. Going to go take computer courses starting in September, and get to do construction with my best friend for the summer at better money anyway

Posted by Some One on Apr-25-2002 07:12:

I'm taking Marketing Administration

as for spare time, I used to sell time-share... ugh.. what an ugly job.. although good $$$

Posted by SmellsExcellent on Apr-25-2002 17:36:

Right now i plan to major in comp sci but who knows what will be after 4-5 years.. I intern as a Network Admin which pays pretty much shit cuz im too passive to go ask for a raise so I shark pool tourneys and play texas hold'em and blackjack for an income.

BTW, even though my job pays shit, its fun as hell and i got tons of hookups in "the industry" which is rocketing the price of my new rig down to the low 1000 range - will be the greatest computer to set foot on america (for about a week until something new comes out). So I learn a lot, make some friends, basically go to work and hang out and build shit and fix problems and then make money on weekends.

cheers
-Marc

I'm going to be Majoring in IT (don't know exactly where in that field yet, though) this Autumn. Maybe Software Development or Networking. Which is higher paying? How much exp. do you need for either? Can anyone on here give me info on this?

Posted by mysticwave on Apr-27-2002 01:21:

I am currently enrolled in the Trent/Queens Con-current education course which will lead to a career as a secondary school teacher. For a job I am involved with a Canadian Military Reserve Infantry unit. (Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment) This summer I will be working on a farm.

1st year at Uni, Majoring in Economics. Minoring in who knows what...probably gonna end up being German or Psychology. However, after having a Long and loud argument with my father...he tells me that I have no dream to do something in my life and that i have NO direction and no plans of getting a job)....dont ask..i don't know what kind of shit hes on. I think he said hes just gonna give me a grand to buy some technics so I would stop drooling over them online and go do something constructive with me time. Hmm..i think i'm gonn have to hold him to that...although i have a job and am saving every penny i make to buy a set.
