Red face Hey Mac Users...

So I totally spilled cranberry juice on my keyboard today, it was so awesome. Awesome in that it wasn't awesome at all. Anyone know if I can just pop the keys off, clean them, and put them back on or will they somehow break? Halp

I'm sure for a truly exorbitant sum, Apple will be able to replace it.

you would not spill things if you had a PC

If he had a PC, he'd learn to use the drink holder on it!
...well up until he wanted to put a CD in it at least.

Thanks

Everything works but they keys are sticky! I'm just worried about the light thing underneath the board...what if the keys aren't supposed to be removed? I dunno

When I was younger (ok like 3 months ago) I spilled a glass of milk on my mom's laptop and spent all night popping the keys off, cleaning them, and replacing them without a problem. But pcs don't have lights. Boo Apple

Methylated spirits should be alright, just unplug it and wash off whatever stains you've defiled the thing with paper towels. Might want to let it dry for awhile though before you plug it back in, in the meantime just start drinking what's left of the metho.

DJFreaq had a similar incident happen a while ago. It ended up where he had to have a new keyboard shipped to him and swap it out himself.

I've heard Methylated spirits and cranberry juice is quite appetising, but after the liberal dosing the Mac has received, he's probably got none left now.

That's what I was worried about

good news is that everything is working fine...kristina had the same thing happen to her mac last year (she spilled paint water on it), and the period/space bar stopped working all together

They are really, really easy to replace though

Bummer that it will cost loot, but you can get it take care of relatively easily.

I really can't just pop the keys out and clean them? Can't be that hard right? I'm gonna do it

Use a very, very small amount "baby warm" water and a toothbrush - it's how I clean video game controllers.

Make sure you let it dry overnight too.

I wasn't even going to use warm water

Well, it works if you want to try it. You can also use ammonia free cleaners, but I get really, really sketched out by using chemicals on electronics.

On the other hand, using electronics while on chemicals tends to be a pretty good time.

Why were you drinking cranberry juice?

your period?
UTI?

Because cranberry is a delicious treat. And yes, I'm feeling bloated on my period

YOU SPILLED IT ON A MACBOOK PRO?!

BAS WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!

Posted by bas on Oct-02-2007 17:51:

I know

I feel like such a tool, I knocked the glass and it didn't actually fall over. But I thought it was, so I tried to stop it and in my effort actually spilled
