Exclamation Oogamoo Presents: Adritae - The Clouds Above

hey all!,

yes! it's been a while since i have posted something up here
but now i have made something new.

it's a type of remix, i borrowed elements from 2 tracks,
A. the melody from 'moonman - galaxia'
B. some of the vocals from 'lustral - everytime'

also the bassline sounds a lot like the one in armin's 'clear blue moon', but i actually used that same pattern before i heard that track! lol, i added the strange bass break he used in the song though to mine, it sounds cool

but the end result is very different to either of the tracks so please check it out and let me know what you think!

thanks

LOL

I dunno why I'm in the thread title but I clicked it!

downloading now

[edit] ok, heard it out now, it's a decent track, the vocals really finish it off. Nice 303-ish bassline. Only thing I can bitch at is maybe the drums are a bit simple (nice clap sounds tho....mind sharing? )
[/edit]

Posted by Serp on Apr-24-2002 16:29:

because you are the one who has heard just about all my tracks lol

yeah, the drums are simple although if i try beef them up i think fruity may hate me for it

well about the clap, half of it is a sample lol

the track is 90% 3xOSC

Posted by Pjotr G on Apr-24-2002 16:31:

Mind putting up that half clap sample?
I'm always looking for the perfect clap....

Posted by Serp on Apr-24-2002 16:36:

sure, i'll see what i can do, i'll put it up 2morrow (which infact is today) as its late, going to go to bed

Mate, great track

LOVE the bassline!!

What did you use to make it?

Posted by Serp on Apr-25-2002 10:09:

i used 3, 3xOSC's

Posted by Serp on Apr-25-2002 11:07:

im just uploading the latest reworked version of the track over the current one, this will be the last rework.

come on everyone, click this thread! :P

Because your loyal to all your fellow TA pals, do you think you could send me the 3osc preset for the bass?? hehe

Cheers

Posted by Serp on Apr-25-2002 11:30:

lol yes possibly,
problem is the bass is sort of technical in terms of the effects i used and that its not just one OSC its 3 seperate patterns all playing in sequence

the volumes also have to be right, so the only way i could do it is to somehow delete everything in the entire song back to just the bassline! (that would take me a while)

here's sorta how i did it:

go into channel presets and select the '3x OSC' menu
select short square and put that on a channel
if i was to draw the pattern it would look something like this

x'.'x.'.x'.'x.'.

x represents the kick

(hope you can make sense out of that)

the 2 other channels i can't actually remember what patch i used
i modified them a lot and changed the name

to get that metally sound i ran one of the OSC's with a basic 3 step arpeggio

and the other one was just the icing on the cake

yes, it IS complicated, just experiment with everything and you will find something cool

Hey Dave, great trak as usual.
I dunno but I think I might have a sample of one of yours
on me 'homepage'.
If it is, I hope ya don't mind?
Keep up the great work.

Posted by Serp on Apr-25-2002 13:32:

i don't mind you using it at all, i find it cool

Nobody won, cause there were hardly any votes, so Peter Campbell decided that we all won. I remember I was in the lead with 2 votes

Posted by Serp on Apr-26-2002 14:47:

ahh cool, now i know!, i must have been on another planet or something lol

funny that i never really thought about it until now

Posted by breakaholic on Apr-26-2002 22:18:

Not bad, not bad . Good bassline, exellent melodies, great vocals .
Heh, maybe next time just more own ideas .

Posted by Serp on Apr-27-2002 01:22:

yeah i know!, sometimes its so hard to write a tune without it sounding like something else

but this one was pretty much intended to use familier melodies
but if you think about it the only part i copied is the strings + the vocals

next time it will be a unique track

Posted by patticus on Apr-27-2002 20:46:

hm good use of the sample, but this 'bootleg' just didnt do it for me.. sorry.

Posted by Serp on Apr-28-2002 01:30:

sample?

Posted by patticus on Apr-28-2002 08:52:

ya the vocals, but i dont really like it with the melody or maybe its just i dont enjoy the galaxia melody that much?
anyways i liked the melody development much more than the 'ripped off' part.

Posted by Serp on Apr-28-2002 11:48:

ah ok cool, so you think the vocals don't fit?
me either to be honest but they fit close enough to pass, its not like this is gonna be released or anything, i just made it for fun

do you like the track? or is it not your style?, please let me know!

thanks
