Orchestral Trance: know any good artists?
Examples: in the album Dreamland by Robert Miles, i enjoyed the first part of these tracks: Fable, Princess of Light, Red Zone.
After the openings the songs became very cheesy and borring. The rest of the album was even cheesier.
I'm looking for sophisticated, multi-layered orchestral trance with or without lyrics. Beat or no beat, either is fine.
another example: Voices of Summer 2007 (beauty) by GT vs Project C.
jump to 1:13:00 which is during the last track.
The synth/orchestra for the next minute or so is the best music i have ever heard from these mixes (i have them all). There are so many subtleties.
please help me!!!!! I would really appreciate recommendations on artists!!
PvD did a live performance of all of his tracks arranged for a philharmonic orchestra once. It was actually kind of neat.
The song that comes to mind though is Hello Strings, can't remember the artist. Also the opening track of Danny Howells' latest Essential Mix had gorgeous strings.
thanks a lot for the info! anyone else with suggestions? I want as much as I can get.

LIKE.
THERE.
WEREN'T.
ENOUGH.
FUCKING.
GENRES.
give me a break ffs! and i dont want any smart asses saying "oh orchestral trance has been around forever waah waah wahh"
There are genres and then there are descriptive modifiers of genres. Check?
I would suggest looking into Juno Reactor's body of work, especially the album Labyrinth. Infected Mushroom's Classical Mushroom might also be of interest. Bust-A-Move, anyone?

I'm a Masiello whore, so I'm sure I'd like Blades as well. |

Nice thread! I too am interested in orchestral tracks.
Synergy - Hello Strings is an awesome track! Just wish it was a little faster.
Fable - Nightshift is a beautiful track that opens with some very strong strings.
I'd love to hear the PvD tracks mentioned above!
A little bit of faux-strings does not warrant the use of the word "orchestral". Do you even know what an orchestra is?
You bet, however following the theme of the thread many of the tracks listed seem to follow a certain trend involving "strings". Now then strings are part of an orchestra are they not? Therefore it wouldn't be completely erroneous to call these tracks "Orchstral". Suggesting that someone does not know what "orchestral" means simply because they are referring to strings seems rather ridiculous.
It's rare that you'll find full on orchestral trance with brass, percussion, woodwinds etc... You could however look at The Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions soundtracks which were a collaboration between Don Davis & Juno Reactor. Awesome tracks! Not sure if any of them are mixable, but they're certainly fun to listen to.
Another track to look at would be: Nickelson - Yin (Solide Globe mix) which features some beautiful strings from The Last Samurai, composed by Hanz Zimmer.

first and andre - cruiser ??
"Awful" would be a little harsh but ya it's not the greatest tune. The Last Samurai portion would be the only redeeming part, I only mentioned it cuz it seemed fitting with the thread.
I bought it a while back. Played it once, maybe twice and it's been collecting dust ever since, meanwhile the Last Samurai CD has been played over and over again

Photon Project - Enlightenment
Ace's Delight - Mental Theme (Ultra Trance Mix)
Ace Da Brain - Sunrise (Ace's Delight Mix)
Twenty Something - Sugar Rush
I think a great start for you or anyone interested in Trance of this nature should check out Jean Michael Jarre. Was introduced to him a while back but recently saw his Moscow Oxygene DVD, gives me goosebumps everytime.
Here is his discogs, hope it helps.
Cheers.
