MSTRKRFT
www.mstrkrft.com | myspace.com/mstrkrft | Toronto, Ontario, Canada
There's a punk disco party going in, and MSTRKRFT are ready to man the decks. JFK and ALP are here to up the ante as rock's merger with electro continues to incite, excite, and rumble its way into dance charts the world over. They've got mad skills, fresh sounds, and they've developed a legion of loyal fans in less than a year. Just who is the mystery duo?
MSTRKRFT (pronounced 'Master craft') is the project of Toronto musician Jesse F. Keeler and studio wizard Al-P, two music-loving dudes who've been itching to make people dance as hard as they've made them rock. The pair has been collaborating, on and off, since 1998, when Al recorded Jesse's punk rock band Black Cat #13. Though they went separate routes - Jesse taking a brief break from music, and Al moving to New York where he worked at studios like Sound on Sound and Chung King recording artists as diverse as Jay-Z, Wyclef Jean, and David Clayton Thomas - the friends remained in contact, trading tapes of their individual, unreleased forays into dance music.
Enter MSTRKRFT, a shit-hot addition to the global community of sonic warriors currently smashing down boundaries between punk, house, hip-hop, grime, electro, and all kinds of electronic experimentation.
Now, with the release of their diverse debut artist album The Looks, and its funkin' fantastic, vocoderheavy lead party jam "Easy Love," MSTRKRFT prove that they can make and mix rock and dance music with equal abandon and precision.
With two feet firmly planted in punk rock's influential past, and two in dance music's future, MSTRKRFT are the now, wow.

DJ DAN
DJ Mag's #5 DJ IN THE WORLD!!! | In Stereo Recordings | www.djdan.com | Los Angeles, California
Long before periodicals like URB and BPM Culture began sponsoring annual surveys of the world's favorite DJs, dance music lovers had already spoken, loud and clear, in favor of DJ Dan. From his rise through the early '90s Los Angeles rave scene, to his non-stop international agenda today (he traveled 135,000 miles in 2004 alone), Dan has continued to thrill audiences wherever he goes, from Sydney to San Paulo, Taiwan to Toronto. He has sold over 300,000 mix CDs in North America alone, been featured prominently on MTV and network television, rocked a crowd of over 50,000 LA New Year's Eve revelers in 1999, and was one of the first American DJs to play China.
Dan originally hails from Olympia, WA, where he grew up with nine siblings. While still in his teens, he jerry-rigged the family stereo to facilitate making homemade mixes; he also became interested in fashion, and would go on to graduate with honors from the Thomas Edison School of Design in Seattle. "A lot of people bitch about the weather in the Pacific Northwest," recalls Dan of his tenure in Washington state, "but I found the rain very artistically inspiring."
Since 1996, Dan has release ten full-length commercial mix CDs, for respected labels like Sm
e, Kinetic, Moonshine, and Kinkybeat; in North America alone, he has sold over 300,000 records. To program his most recent, the multi-faceted Lift, Dan reviewed which tracks had rocked the hardest in his travels worldwide over the past 18 months, loaded up his crate with those cuts, and cherry-picked judiciously. "I didn't base my mix around what the newest tracks of the week were, but rather, what would make up a great set that captured the vibe of not only where I'm at musically, but also the diversity that inspires me," he insists. "I love playing house, techno, electro, old school, breaks, and I want to represent all of those sounds."

DONALD GLAUDE
Eden Recordings | Bugeyed Records | www.djdonaldglaude.com | San Diego, California / Tacoma, Washington
Confident. Exuberant. Raw. Innovative. These are just a few of the words industry insiders and fans have used to describe the talent behind one of Americas favorite house DJs, Donald Glaude. Ranked #68 on DJMag.coms Top 100 DJs List in 2005, Donald skyrocketed to #48 this year and his genius keeps on growing
Some DJs seek commercial acceptance. Donald, on the other hand, has always preferred an emotional connection with his audience. For Donald, house music is not simply a mixed bag of sound, but rather an experience that provokes the soul. Apart from his mastery on the decks, Donald is best known for his dynamic showmanship. He enjoys his music as much as his audience does. Embracing their energy, it is not uncommon to find Donald pumping his hands in the air, jumping up and down and shouting back his love to the crowd. It is this powerful signature style which has led fellow DJ and musical producer, Dave Aude, to call Donald the James Brown of DJs. Donald also caused some stir in 2005 and 2006 with his residency at ICE Nightclub in Las Vegas.
Donalds 2005 release, This is Me (Moist Music), is a 35-track double CD that defines his creativity, sound and vibrant style. Since its release, Donalds fans have been eager to hear whats next from their favorite DJ. Fans will be pleased to know that Donalds hard at work on another double CD, For the People (Moist Music), a live recording and original tracks produced by Donald himself. With the completion of this latest project, the world should be prepared to experience all sides of Donald Glaude: DJ. Producer. ARTIST.
Continuing to be The Hardest Working American Dj Donald has many new projects planned for this upcoming year. He has a tour scheduled with Americas Most Beloved Dj Dj Dan and he also has another new CD releasing in 2007. Also expect new release from both of his labels Eden Recordings and Durty Records. You have seen him use his musical talents from bring his experience in playing bass, percussion, violin and then moving on to the turntable just show us his grasp on music. BABY ANNE
Zone Records | www.bassqueen.com | myspace.com/madbassgirl | Florida
featuring DARLING NIKKI of CHAKRA BLUE
Oven Fresh Records | Knightlife Recordings
Motivated by her good friend DJ Icey, Florida's Baby Anne first shimmied behind the turntables in 1992. Soon after meeting at a local Orlando gig, Icey encouraged the fledgling DJ as she educated herself with the tricks of the trade, and shortly thereafter, Baby Anne began getting bookings. As they say, once she bought her first set of Technics SL 1200's, there was no looking back.
Between gigs, Baby Anne began honing her production skills, releasing a number of singles for DJ Icey's Zone Records imprint, including "Trippin' On Da Bass," "Freaks Groove," "Bass Queen," "Abercrombie," "Probe" and "Pulse," as well as producing one-off tracks such as "Body Movin'," "Beat", "Fury" for other labels. Baby Anne's latest single, "Dementia," is the latest track on her new mix CD ASSAULT & BATTERY for Zone Records/System Recordings. It is her signature sound, which fuses Miami bass and electro with funky Breaks, that makes Baby Anne a lot more than "just a DJ," it makes her a hot commodity in the rising Breaks landscape and the reigning queen of this genre.
Having received rave reviews and press coverage in publications ranging from top-50 market dailies such as The Miami Herald and The World-Herald, to major weeklies such as New Times and Orlando Weekly to popular fanzines such as Lunar Magazine and Club Planet, DJ Baby Anne definitely has a positive career trajectory.

DIESELBOY & J MESSINIAN
Human | Planet of the Drums | www.djdieselboy.com | myspace.com/humanimprint | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The most recognized face and sound in American drum & bass belong to Dieselboy. An icon for American d&b for over a decade, he has become an international symbol of this volatile underground dance music movement. Americas best-selling d&b artist by far, Dieselboy was the first American to be voted into the UK-based Drum & Bass Arena Top 10 DJs 2004 online poll. Early in 2007, Dieselboy tag-teamed with d&bs best-known superstar Goldie in Russia where they co-headlined a festival attended by over 25,000 junglists, and they shared headliner status again soon after at SXSW 2007 in Austin, Texas.
As a DJ, Dieselboy, born Damian Higgins, was an original pioneer in the early 90s spreading d&b in North America, first in Pittsburgh, then from Philadelphia, growing in popularity until he was criss-crossing the continent virtually nonstop. His popular mix-tapes and mix-CDs have been the gateway for countless fans to the high energy, futuristic, science fiction sound of d&b. Dieselboys style is characterized by flawless execution, meticulous pulse-quickening programming that not only excels at showcasing individual tracks but also creates an intense and epic cinematic atmosphere.
Undeniably one of the worlds great ambassadors of drum & bass, continuously pushing the genre beyond its boundaries, Dieselboy is currently at work on his next highly anticipated cross-genre remix extravaganza mix CD, his ninth, entitled Substance D, due out in fall 2007, in conjunction with a HUMAN IMPRINT tour with rotating label artists.
Messinian has performed at countless parties in the states and internationally including tours in Japan, South Africa, England, Austria, Macedonia, Serbia, South Korea, Holland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Australia, Costa Rica, Canada, Poland, Hungary, Switzerland, Venezuela, Lithuania, Belgium, Estonia, and many more. PHOTEK
TEKDBZ | Photek Productions | www.photekproductions.com | London, England, United Kingdom / Los Angeles, California
Rupert Parkes, aka Photek, Special Forces, Studio Pressure and Aquarius, first became hooked on music at the birth of hip hop in the mid '80's with the first electro and rap tunes. This naturally evolved into an interest in jazz and inspired by John Coltrane he learned to play the saxophone. In 1989 pirate radio turned him onto the warehouse parties and underground clubs of the UK rave scene.
A landmark moment came when Parkes found a new family in the form of Goldie and Metalheadz, His first Metalheadz release was "Consciousness", "Into The '90's" and "The Rain". After the Metalheadz releases Parkes felt it was time to start his own label and imprint, in 1994 Photek Records was launched with a loan from the Prince of Wales Youth Business Trust. As Aquarius, Parkes recorded a number of tracks for LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records, including "Drift To The Centre /Waveforms" on Good Looking, 1995 and "Dolphin Tune / Aquatic" in 1996. It was around this time that Photek met long time friend and ally Peshay who had just released the incredible "Protoge EP" on Reinforced. Photek was now an established artist and proceeded to land a publishing deal with Universal. The next few years saw him remix artists such as Attica Blues, Goldie, Roni Size, Therapy, Dr. Octagon and later Bjork, David Bowie, Everything But The Girl, Zero 7; at the same time the major labels became interested and in 1996 Photek signed to Virgin Records1 subsidiary Science Records for a 5 album deal (his work is released by Astralwerks in America).
It came as no surprise when people in the film and TV industry wanted to collaborate with Parkes and a temporarily move to Los Angeles was inevitable. Parkes scored the martial arts film "Invincible", scored the hip hop tv series "Platinum", scored several chase scenes in "The Italian Job", scored music for the "Animatrix" etc. During his time in LA, Parkes also remixed the theme tune for the HBO hit " Six Feet Under" and the theme from the Mel Gibson movie "Signs".
After a long battle and after paying a high price, Parkes managed to get out of his record deal with Virgin to regain complete creative freedom. Besides the film and TV work Parkes has decided to give priority to his own label again which has recently released several singles under his alias Special Forces and signed 2 new artists (see link Photek records). This summer Parkes started a new urban label ; 51st State Entertainment on which he produces new talent (see link 51st State). Between London, LA and many dj tours, Parkes has built an infrastructure which enables him to work in the various fields he enjoys the most; scoring movies, producing other acts or making drum 'n' bass. Parkes' priority is to be creative and flexible being the visionary that he is..

BAILEY
1 XTRA | Metalheadz | Swerve | Intasound | London, UK
Born and raised in South London DJ Bailey has been exposed to the contemporary underground scene since the age of 11. His passion of beats started with Hip Hop in the early eighties. Baileys South London stomping ground was littered with sound systems, one of which he joined, DJing at house parties and making mix tapes.
Becoming bored with the mellow hip hop of the late eighties Bailey discovered something new and harder; Acid House the culture which engulfed him, leading him to the rave scene. It was on this acid house path, in around 91 that he found a turning for hardcore, inspired by the breakbeat element. At the end of this road he entered the door for Drum & Bass.
Bailey was soon gaining steam as a DJ by playing on a local pirate station Energy FM. It was his ability on that very station that impressed Kemistry and Storm, resulting in them inviting Bailey to play at one of the first Metalheadz club nights at the old Blue Note in 1996. Through moving on the circuit Bailey joined forces with other influential South London selectors and MCs, forming the Inta Natty crew which consisted of himself, Grooverider and MC Flux amongst others.
Bailey soon joined the Groove Connection booking agency which is known for managing Fabio, Grooverider, Jumpin Jack Frost, Bryan Gee, Storm and Calibre.
His bookings have brought him to conquer the world of Drum & Bass by playing in South Africa, Japan, Costa Rica, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America and the majority of Europe. As for the UK, Bailey has been all over the mainland showcasing his DJ skills at many events, some of which include: One Nation, AWOL, Movement, Creamfields, Valve, Fabric Live, The End, Dreamscape, Slamming Vinyl not forgetting Goldies club Metalheadz and Fabios club Swerve both at which he is a resident.
His gift for precision and his natural intuition for what the people want has lead BBC 1Xtra to secure Bailey as part of their core starting line up, every Sunday night (11pm 1am) and in 2003 he won the award for Best Radio Show at the Knowledge Drum and Bass Awards.

Awww man makin me miss Seattle.
But you know despite the many USC massives I went to I never actually went to a Freak Night now that I think about it.
Just an update for those who haven't heard:
USC has lost the venue for Freaknight. I feel horrible for them as anytime a problem like this occurs its bad, but especially when you are expecting 6k-8k people.
But, if anyone can figure it out, it's them.
A message from USC Events:
Freaknight is NOT canceled, just relocated.
The new venue will be announced as soon as possible, along with the answers to everyone's questions.
Again, if you want up to date information, add USC Events to your myspace friends list: www.myspace.com/uscevents. You can also join the mailing list there, as well as at www.uscevents.com. You can also call the infoline at 888.221.7491. It seems as though a high volume of calls disrupts the service for a short time, so keep trying, or visit the web links above.
We're working hard to secure this new venue, and get information out to everyone in a timely fashion.
.
horrible news
hope you guys secure a new venue especially since its a few hours away
This event has been canceled.
