New Pioneer SVM-1000

The next logical step for Pioneer. Holy crap that's gonna be expensive!

And off course there are these obvious controls available :

* Audio Master Rotary
Instead of a fader, the Pioneer SVM=1000 has a rotary control for the master level. This will prevent you from making accidental mistakes due to your sleeves or other miss-grabbing.
* Video Master Rotary
Fade the Master Output to white or black by rotating this knob left or right.
* Balance
Sets the positions of the sound from left to right, when centered you feel a click.
* Booth Monitor
Control the Monitor Output for your monitor speakers.
*
Cross Fader A/B Selector
Use to route a channel to the designated site of the Cross Fader. When THRU is selected, the Cross Fader is bypassed.

Looks cool. The main problem that is that there still isn't much in this genre for music videos. Most of what I have seen people mix of the DVDJ's is essentially Winamp visualizations, which is just kinda cheesy. Maybe this will open the flood gates for dance videos, but they have a high production cost so I doubt it.

you haven't seen sander k then.

anyone who buys a pair of dvj's and doesn't go above and beyond cutting between music videos is wasting money. furthermore I've only seen 2 dj's who use the dvjs (one of whom was sander kleinenberg). while a lot of the material is planned it looks really good and adds a very visual quality to the music experience!

almost any interesting club these days deals with video


hardly "music videos".

sander k is an example, as spawnmaster said, but hardly the best example IMO

Gonna go check him out next Friday with his DVJ setup.

I read that he has staff that makes all the visuals for him though, otherwise, damn, don't we already have enough to do as DJ's?

yes that's right, his visuals are all premade but i certainly think he does it in good taste, and while maybe not the best are definately a good effort.

also, as far as dj's not having enough to do, im one to think that we don't do hardly enough! but then again i'm moving towards a live performance setup these days, so it's just my funk.

What I wouldn't give for that mixer along with DVJs

DJ's should stick to music and let the VJ's handle visual mixing...

I don't even really understand how a mixer works for videos. I've seen DVJs in action, but as far as the actual mixing goes, what is actually involved? Are you visually blending the vids or what?

def not a mixer one has in their bedroom... but i thought that about the 3d when it came out... if i was a REAL professional, i'd def integrate video.

Very unnecessary for regular DJ'ing.. Especially for the crazy price it will cost you obviously.

legal, high quality video's... not many people have access to them. i can only imagine a well established pro dj with a lot of talent/connections being able to use that mixer to its fullest.

I think the VJing products are being geared towards Top40/Urban DJs at the moment. There isn't much video material available for our genres, but there are now Promo Only DVDs with all of the latest music videos on them, etc. for the Top40 jock to work with. Once we get a good pool of high-quality Dance video DVDs then we should see more people trying VJing.

While doing a prom last year, the Top40 DJ I was helping out had a 'ghetto' VJ setup. Basically there were two normal home DVD players, a couple of video boxes that sent the signal to his DJM600 and his preview screens, and a preview screen/video switcher that we used to see the next video. The video switcher had some of the effects that this unit is boasting, such as wipe, swirl, etc. so that switching between the music videos wasn't abrupt.

This setup was a pain in the a$$ to work with! Because the Top40 guy needed to do the camera work for the prom video, he left me manage the video system. I had to 'cue' up the video that I wanted (which meant finding the Promo Only sleeve, then manually pressing 'skip track' until I got to the DVD track number. No DVD menus here!), then making sure everything is OK on this 5" B&W monitor, then setting up the effects, then figuring out how to blend/fade the two tracks musically, then switching tracks through the mixer's faders AND the video switcher at the same time! There was a lot to do but the setup did work (and all of the 'ghetto' setup gear combined costed less than one DVJ)

damn!!! i hope he is saving for 2 dvj's cuz holy shit how long did it take to set up everything just right??

More and more clubs are integrating video into their setups. I have a meeting today with one of my residencies that wants me to do videos. I'm having them invest a pretty peni. They already have 2 Pioneer DVJ's. My other two residencies are also installing video setups. Like the other guys said, it's not very big in the EDM world, but in the top 40 world this is HUGE!!!

Personally, I'm waiting for Serato with Video to come out. That should be available by years end.

looks hot!! video is a great addition also..
