wow, the smoothest, most consistent, well crafted, not all over the place set of tech-housey-progressive beats I have ever heard. My crew completely lost it. The gay crowd did not like it too much, but we were in heaven.

We all got there around 2 and pretty much waited around and danced modestly, took us 6 hours to get into it, but when D-Formation started, it was all over ...

I am still getting chills

How was Gabriel and Dresden? Also....Mistress Barbara?

Notwithstanding that everyone has their own opinion and nobody will all agree , the house room ( power room ) was the only place to spend your time.

I only went to the Alternator room twice and both times the music was neither all that great nor was it busy. After about 9am the room was almost completely empty.

As a DJ myself i felt bad for the big names that performed there to such a small crowd but I guess that is more of a reflection of how good the house was.

I missed Stephan but i heard most of Antoine and it was not bad but not very consistent either.

Alot of people said the have seen better from Peter but personally I was happy with it. I thought it was very good.

I have a bias with Mark Anthony so for me that was by far the highlight , it was an amazing set!

D-formation was very good as well , this was my first B&B and I must say that for a straight guy in a gay event I had a fantastic time!

Aside from the DJs the live shows were fairly entertaining , good lighting , and compared to sensation the venue and the setup was professional and top notch....

I will go next year!

Gabriel and Dresden KILLED it also. I spent their first 3 hours loving their style and I think that was the only time the smaller room was full. Everyone in there seemed to love it, a good set.

Marc Anthony, like last year, train wreck (in my opinion)
Allot of "what the hell is he doing?"
Peter Rauhoffer is an extremely consistent DJ. He always plays well, but never more, never less. Very linear, great beats, hard at times, but he got the party going.

did he play a bit less repetitive than his bal performance?

im so mad i missed dformation on a massive sound system... please bring him back for bal en blanc!!!

good for you. More TAs should have gone to this. Prydz dropped a solid set at Stereo I hear but this was BnB!! You should drop a more extensive review if you can.. Big O is a great place for a massive, imo.

Review from Montreal Gazette

What's Black and Blue and all over for this year?; After 15-hour rave, partygoers call it a day

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Streaming out of Olympic Stadium just before noon yesterday, revellers from the 17th annual Black and Blue rave were surprisingly sprightly after a 15-hour techno music-driven dance marathon.

Sunglasses were de rigueur for the bleary-eyed, and risqu or outlandish dress was the norm for the 10,000 in attendance.

A pharmacist was on hand at the beginning of the night, a first in the party's history, to distinguish illegal drugs from legally prescribed medications partygoers carried with them, said Caroline Rousse, spokesperson for the Bad Boy Club of Montreal Foundation, which organizes the event.

The rave is part of the Black and Blue Festival, which began Wednesday and ends today. It attracts about 85,000 people each year and is one of the world's leading gay-community events. It also raises funds for HIV/AIDS charities.

The rave now typically attracts a mixed crowd, Rousse said.

Virginie Lvesque and Stphanie Provost, both 19 and from St. Jrme, were at the Big O yesterday for their first Black and Blue. As heterosexual females, they found the environment inviting, non-judgmental and safe.

"It's the kind of ambience where everyone talks to one another," said Lvesque, clad in thigh-high fishnet stockings, a miniskirt, extravagant makeup and deep blue fake eyelashes.

The women, accompanied by their friend Vincent Desrosiers, had arrived at Olympic Stadium at about 3 a.m. But instead of heading home at noon, they were on their way to meet some new friends - drag queens from Chez Mado, a popular cabaret in the Gay Village - for a drink.

The theme this year was "Power Trip," and Lvesque said the party was electrifying and otherworldly.

As in previous editions of the party, security was tight. Montreal police arrested a man and a woman in their 20s. The two were to appear in court yesterday to face drug trafficking charges.
