Last.fm - Roll Call

I know there's a group called trancEaddicts there (and another one called TranceAddict which is not quite as popular ) but it's sometimes difficult to know who really is a TA and who just listens to trance.

So, let this thread continue as a roll call and post your profile!

Wtf is Last.fm?

Last.fm is a service that keeps track of what music you listen to, and then produces a large number of features personalised to you.

You can use Last.fm to listen to music, find out about artists you may like, other people with similar music taste, gigs in your local area, charts and quilts for your personal site, as well as much more.

but they never let you hear the whole song, the song is in shitty quality and last.fm is notoriously crappy

at least, that's the impression i got when i tried it

Have you downloaded their software? You need that to listen the full song (and I reckon the quality isn't much different from other web radios).

No you don't. It's just down to the artist/label whether they allow you to stream the whole track or the 30 sec clip.

Sure, you're talking about those (rather rare) full tracks, aren't you?

All I'm saying is that you can listen to all songs you want in their entirety if you download the software and play them using it. I've never had to listen to 30 second clips in my playlist...

All the tracks on my recommended radio station are full and I've never downloaded anything from that site.

Do you really listen to all tracks using nothing but the site?

I'm pretty sure there's an answer in my previous post somewhere...

I can read, Nik, but what I find weird is... how the hell can Last.FM recommend you a track before it knows what your musical taste is? Can you just label a few tracks as "loved" and then ask for recommendations?

Erm... I have a plugin for WinAmp that logs all my played tracks to Last.Fm and it recommends me tracks based on that data.

How the hell do you use the site?

Oh, when you said you had never downloaded anything from their site, I thought it included plug-ins. Makes a lot more sense now.

Because I don't really have that much music in my computer, I often use their software. I've got a rather big playlist and I kinda like the feeling of listening to a radio station I can configure... and I can use WinAmp for other purposes while I'm still listening to music

i think thats it
idk

also, i rarely, if ever, use it for the radio, it just took the place of audioscrobbler :/

edit: i really don't know how it gets some of its data. i never leave music playing overnight, and somehow an album i listened to half of two months ago and haven't touched since is my #27 artist overall. wtf?!

also LOL bright eyes is #1
i mean...their new album is good, but that's from when i left town for a weekend with that album's playlist on repeat
rofl

It nevar forgets. So, if you listened to it two months ago, it counts. If you listened to something six months ago, it still counts.

God listened to Busta Rhymes just before the Big Bang... and, yup, it's still there

A certain Signum track has been on my #1 spot since day one and I know for a fact I've never listened to it that many times. I have no idea how it got there and I can't seem to get it down from there either.
