If you do a lot of texting, get a phone with a full keyboad, not a number pad. If you listen to a lot of mp3s, get an mp3 player!

I truly believe that a lot of phones now days are jack of all trades, masters of none. The blackberry at least is a master of information handling (email, text, internet...). But, this is from somebody who likes to keep all his devices seperate. I have a pocket pc, camera, mp3 players, phone.

PS - please do not buy an iPhone, they are going to cost $799 with a 3 year contract when the come to Canada, on the Rogers network.

Someone is celling me an iphone for 600 - 650$ and I already have contract with rogers, so I can just take out my sim card and put it in the iphone

you can get an iphone right across the border for $300 then bring it back and get it unlocked for $100. a few friends of mine have already done this.

I've had my iphone for 3 weeks now - the technology is definitely a leap forward. Nothing on the market (currently) can complete with it really.

I'm 24 and still haven't gotten a cell phone.
Lately I've been borrowing my mom's when I go to all access parties so I can find people.

I think I'll finally cave and buy one soon.

Leap forward in which way?

I keep up with tech, and have a lot of toys, but nothing I have seen in the iphone makes me want to run out and get one.

It's all about the interface and how intuitive it is (not to mention the quality of the lcd). Once you try it in person and see the quality of the screen you will be impressed (it even impressed Swamper! )

That being said, Apple has left out many, now, standard cell phones features like GPS, Activesync, etc. Also, having to use itunes to import anything is a pain.

Thanks for giving an honest answer.

I think I'll stick with my Nokia phones. I love their interface, because it feels like I'm using a computer, everything is in the right place.

i would suggest nokia all the way. stay away from blackberry! especially the models with the trackballs, they loose their sensitivity and become inaccurate when your navigating and blackberry operating system blows. since your considering something along the lines of a blackberry i'd suggest the Nokia E62. This is the one im rolling with right now and its by far the best i've seen/used. symbian operating system is top notch, voice quality crystal clear and a qwerty keyboard. ever since i got this thing i'd rather have people text message me than call me lol....http://www.nokia.ca/english/products/E62/E62.asp.... if you feel like a real baller get the nokia n95! lol

Yes thats true and there already phones which can do what the Iphone can

With the iPhone you cannot download songs/videos directly on to your handset. Customers will need to download content to their PC first and then transfer to the phone, like the iPod. Customers also need to install iTunes and pay $0.99 per song.

iPhone doesn't work with corporate push email, only Exchange Pull emails. Also, iPhone does not support ActiveSync.

iPhone does not support editing of Microsoft Office applications. Corporate customers will only be able to view PowerPoint and Excel documents

Clients will need to ship their iPhones to Apple even for a simple battery change. Leaving clients without their iPhone for possibly weeks.

The iPhone does not allow you to record videos.

Due to the touch screen typing, sending SMS messages is cumbersome as clients have to see what they are touching.

iPhone does not support voice activated dialling.

With the iPhone clients can't easily transfer contacts from existing phone (regular SIM card doesn't work)

iPhone lacks Instant messaging application like Yahoo messenger or MSN messenger; Google Maps usefulness is restricted due to lack of GPS; there are no games loaded on the phone

Personally i have a HTC P4000 is a awesome phone!

I can't speak for the trackballs because I've never had one long enough to notice it, but I haven't heard anybody complaining about that. What I would like to know though is, in which ways the Symbian OS is better than the BB OS? Or why the BB OS blows.

Yep, you are pretty much spot on, except for the transfer contacts bit. It will sync your contacts out of Outlook, therefore if your existing phone can export contacts out into Outlook or some form of data sheet, the process is really quite simple.

You see, Apple is so on the ball that clearly it intentionally left out many standard cell phone features out. I mean, they are essentially skimming the market. Give it 8 months and you'll see iphone 2 come out with many of the features you've described above built in.
