I started off learning and using the crossfader, but up till last week I started using upfaders, and realized there's a lot more control

same....crossfaders are kinda lame

I have never even touched a crossfader... except by accident. It's for the turntablists, not EDM DJ's.

unless I want to do some kinda turntablist like things I don't touch the crossfader at all...

but when I use ableton, I use it for the dry/wet switch for my FX...

its very simple and effective...let's say you route your FX returns to channel 4...then I set the crossfader so that when I move it it mixes with channel 4...funny thing is for example having a delay routed this way...

you can "rytmically gate" the delayed signal with the crossfader...which is funny

Posted by Dojomaster26 on Oct-13-2007 17:08:

I can use both but I prefer to use the upfaders.

Posted by nerdgrl416 on Oct-13-2007 17:14:

Once you go up faders you don't go back.

Posted by skip on Oct-13-2007 17:31:

neither!

rotary for me.

i use upfaders and eqs.. rarely touch my gain unless the song is drastically quiter/louder but i definately dont use them for my transitions

how do you not use the gains...it helps so much

Posted by richg101 on Oct-13-2007 18:43:

i use the gain to get the tracks peaking at the same level on the channel meters during bpm/pitch adjustment. then use the crossfader and the faders/eq during the transition.

Posted by Watts on Oct-13-2007 18:45:

The crossfader, always. I can't scratch with the upfaders.

I have my crossfader taped (!) to the middle

I use up's and only up's, except for the occasional "sleeve-cross-fade" Nik mentioned
