[OFFICIAL] 2007-2008 NBA Season Thread

So is this the year that the Celtics return to glory with KG, Pierce and Ray Allen?

Nah, I say they'll get waxed by the Spurzzz in the finals

so this year starts Year 1 of the danny ainge's quick patch "3 year plan". hopefully ainge has some insight to build some building blocks for after 3 years during the stretch, because after Year 3, Boston is going to be worse than 2 years ago.

1 interesting team i am going to be looking at closely are the Charlotte Bobcats. they made a gutsy signing during the offsesason, picking up Richardson to fill their starting 5. a starting 5 of felton-richardon-wallace-okafor-brezac looks promising. i guess we'll see what direction charlotte goes, especially in a very different Southeast division this year. This year's Southeast is going to be a lot different than last year. Atlanta now has acie law and al horford to help out josh smith and joe johnson, miami being "1 year older", and picking up smush parker and penny hardaway to "help their depth in the bench", orlando has rashard lewis and adonal foyle, and washington still not taking advantage of free agency.

yeah you do that, go nuts... the REST of the world will not be wasting their time on the bobcasts like you... but have fun with that!

Charlotte will def. be interesting, but it seems to be that Okafor breaks every year and I'm not sold on Morrison.

Raptors still haven't picked up anyone to solve the deficiency in defending the paint and rebounding. Frustrating. To be fair there wasn't anyone that good available not overpriced.

Atlantic is going to be entertaining to watch.

Actually besides Lance's annoyance, I don't mind the Celtics. I'll be interested in watching them this year. Always liked Ray Allen since he's on my fantasy teams year in and year out. KG is a beast and will be more dominating with a supporting cast. Pierce will shoot better and have more assists. They just have absolutely no bench. They signed a couple of fringe guys but need to hook a couple more.

There is a couple of guys who I think will be superstars soon but I'll keep that a secret for awhile.

Grumpy Marion should be quiet and enjoy the ride.

I rate Rondo highly. His stats should go up nicely this year.

brilliant commentary

way to reinforce Rockabye's evaluation of your "allegiances"

Felton keeps getting better and better, i expect he'll be in the top five in assists this season. though the team is still very young, they could grow a lot this season. maybe not playoff caliber yet, but the old guard can't hold on forever. I'm with eviltree on Morrison. (at least they didn't waste the pick on Redick)

Gotta go with a +10trillion on this.

It's just a preseason game, but Celtics looked improved as advertised, while the Knicks looked like the same ol' Knicks

go nuggets!

this just in, the knicks still suck!

Just in the Spurs are getting at least one more championship in the next few years.

Posted by Kapedano on Dec-29-2007 15:44:

Damn, the Blazers have won 12 straight. That is surprising.

Who knows? Supposedly Oden was going to make them better.

if they don't win the title this year or next year, I'd consider it a major shock

aside from the Mavs, Celtics and Pistons no team can really challenge them

I should put in the Suns, but they're not built to beat the Spurs over a 7 game series

Spurzzz are done....

PGARP's time!

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Dec-30-2007 05:12:

spurs showing some rust here and there. they're usually not the november-december team anyways ... they seem to pick up steam during february-march heading into the playoffs.

the blazers are really surprising me. by the way aldridge is having a solid year at the center position, seeing him play the power forward position next year and oden at center will be something interesting to see. i think the blazers are missing one more key scorer that can take it to the rim other than roy and they're a legitimate playoff team.

if the Celtics had a decent head coach, I'd pick them to go all the way

Posted by Kapedano on Dec-30-2007 15:34:

I am not worried much. Like butters said, we usually pick up after the all star break. Is it just me or the mavs are doing what the spurs have done over the past seasons? Not care too much about the regular season?

Suns are done. Spurs need to win this year in order to be considered a dynasty.

They should if they know what's good for them. Nobody in the league worth their salt cares about the regular season. Just enough to make it through to the playoffs which I'm sure the Mavs could cruise to. Get some rest make some adjustments develop some younger players etc...

This season the Mavs will have a lot more to worry about in the playoffs then just the Warriors, if the Lakers and Portland keep playing how they are, even the bottom seeds are gonna be tough to beat.
