2007-08 NCAA Men's Basketball Thread

well, practice is in full force, the preseason polls should be out in a week, no better time to start discussing the UNC Tarheels and the teams they will beat to yet another championship.

Go Heels!

it's going to be interesting to see how oj mayo will do this year with usc. is he as "overrated" as some people say? he was very highly regarded about 2 years ago.

Posted by Zewad on Oct-20-2007 05:19:

back to back champs and not even in the top 25...

sweet! just like we all had you two years ago... a bunch of unknown sophmores about to go nuts...

Jayhawks see promise again.. wish we had Brandon Rush back at the beginning but what can ya do. Still don't have a whole lot of confidence in Bill Self, but hopefully this year we can break out.

with a weaksauce non-conference schedule...

pending FSUs expectations, OSU is the only top 50 team Florida isn't forced to play. Glad you have more confidence in that program than the Athletic Director.

all those games were scheduled long before this season, so your arguement has nothing to do with our AD

if noah, horford, richard, green, brewer all returned it would be no different..

our conference schedule is more than what most everybody else can say..

Nope, just a fan. 'We' as in Jayhawk fans.

Coaches Poll is in:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/coll...ll/usatpoll.htm

honestly i hate to see the Heels already at #1. Last time this happened we lost to Santa Clara... oh wait, that was an awesome season!

Go Heels!

and the season is off..

big 10 schools seem to be having problems with Div 2 opponents. expect some surprise upsets this year

you mean SEC.. Gardner Webb beat UK tonight...

with above mention of how pathetic our schedule this year is, i really do think we'll be back in contention at least b/c of our record...

1 true road game before conference play OSU (who lost to some DII nobody, unfortunate it was preseason) and 3 neutral site (in Florida) games

btw.. we demolished our 2 preseason games.... We'll be in the top 15 by default by the time conf play rolls around...

Go Gators!!

I just hoping Maryland can make it to the big dance. but the schedule is deadly as always with Duke, UNC, NC State.

also looking for someone out of the Big East (minus G-Town coming back to glory last year) to make a huge splash, that conference hasn't been as dominating of late.

i think you're getting your wish on the big east. lucky for the SEC, there's only 4 games in the big E/sec challenge this year.

with schools like st. johns, pitt, louisville (BYU excused), nova (NCSU excused), marquette (Duke flopping excused) and g-town... there could be plenty in the big dance.

as for Maryland... at least they beat Illinois

Posted by denys envy on Dec-02-2007 00:20:

UM's win over Illinois was a huge surprise but will come in handy. 5-2 now but the conference schedule is brutal ahead. If they sneak in an 18 win season and get at-large bid to the dance i'll be happy.

how about Indiana in Big 10. they could make some noise this year. that young team may get that program back on track. big 10 is good for 2-3 average teams that come up with huge upsets come march. i think indiana might be one of those.

Illinois is way down this year. Bruce Weber really squandered some opportunities to pull in big recruiting classes. Several of the Illni's top recruits ended up with Indiana... and you can see how that ended up for each team.

When's the last time any of us saw this scoreline?

Kentucky - 53
Vanderbilt - 92

Yeah, I know Kentucky isn't as good as they normally are, but still that's just o_0

we lost by 12 at home to... LSU!!

until tonight i thought maybe some noise in the tourny... now just an invatation to go dancing will suffice...

im hurt...

WE PLAY NO FUCKING DEFENSE!!!! EVER!!!... every game i keep saying if we just get a stop here... if we just get a stop here...

opponents keep shooting 55%+ per game... we always shoot more and make less....tend to win the turnover game which keeps us in most games, but my god... ZERO DEFENSE!!

ok.... now we need to win @ Vandy on the road on Saturday just to save face...

So much for Kelvin Sampson

Somewhere out there, Mike Davis is getting a big laugh out of this

not after that loss to memphis...

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Feb-18-2008 17:13:

man. what those UAB students did after the memphis-UAB match was pretty low class. Gotta take that tough loss with style, especially against the #1 team in the nation.
