Do You 'Think' There is a God ?
This is a slight variation of davinox's poll, nothing against you mate, just wanted a different angle on this subject!
I do think that there is a God of some sort, i dont goto church or worship him in anyway, just think that he exists!
Your thoughts?
(ps - if people want an outright discussion on this matter fine, i will not close or cause a problem just coz everyone isnt "lol" in everypost, if you want to properly voice ur opinion, do so. If u think that the person above is a complete arse, say so, basically if people want a proper talk on this matter fine, as long as it isnt constant abuse then i see no problem, i no that alot of people dont bother bother with 'heated' discussions as they always get closed, mine wont.)
me alive, thats all i need to know
i like to believe that i am in control of my life.. if there is a god, great, it there isn't, well i am prepared, since i am living my life and i think it is right..
do i think that the notion of believing in God is right? Yes, I do. It is extremely important to people to be able to think that there is someone to take care of them after death. In todays society, where EVERYTHING gets 'rationalized' and broken down ,there is one final barrier, that we just cannot explain/ analyze and that is death. If one REALLY believes in God, i am very jealous of that person, since they are able to face death without fear, unlike me.
For me, as I am not sure what happens after death, it is the scariest thing in the world. We all know how uneasy we feel around unknown conditions. Death is completely unknown.. it is very scary to me.
...never believed in ANY ! I'd rather believe in existence of Santa Claus than a god
i dont belive in god, i think the idea is unfeasable, but then agian, thats me
Yes
the only higher power i believe in is balance. We're just part of a chain that will ultimately create a superior race that will defend our planet to preserve the balance of the uninverse. is it already pre-detertmined? has it already happenedand we're just processing it now? who knows. what we do know is that in the grand scheme of things we're all specs, no bigger than the other, everything in everyone's life is irrelevant, so enjoy life while you can.

I've never believed in God, but I don't believe in the big bang either - I figure it's a question no-one knows the answer to, so why try to guess at answers?
And if anyone comes in here and says "Sure there's a god and his name is TIESTO!!!!" or any such crap - be warned that it will be neither funny, nor clever

| Originally posted by Coup U come out with shit like that, but how you think all this came to be? People say about some 'big bang' but think about how everything works together, plants and human gas recycle, body repairing itself, the natural world, the animal food chain. Everything has like 'been planned' to work perfectly, highly doubt a random explosion could make all that. |
Works perfectly u say? Well, if u really think this is a good "evidence", I would say I'm more likely to believe in aliens that created life in our universe. The Aliens that are organisms of a higher level... much higher than human beings. U wanna ask who created them then? If we think logically... why there shouldn't be a more higher level, and even more higher...and more higher. There's no supreme being at all. U can count those levels to infinity. Do u really believe God created everything in six days? Well whatever, sounds like a fairy tale to me (honestly!)
He's dead - the science is alive... everything can be explained logically without that goddy nonsense

| u also said that there is a logical explination for it, well um no. as u said higher levels just keep going, they do, so there has to be a point where something created the master people who created something else, which we dont no or cant even start to comprend, so no its not all logical. |

Well i believe in evolution and the big bang theory, but what was there before that, etc. There must be something that started it all.
It is 2 huge for my small mind to take. But some things cannot be explained
I believe in TRANCE and that's all
If there are so many ppl that dont believe in god why they say
PVD is GOD, Tiesto = GOD!?
So case closed They DO believe in a god......
The thing IS, u believe in something, and u call it GOD.
If you think its a man with a beard its ok, if u think its something that is responsible for live on earth its ok, if you think its just the whole universe its ok, see what I mean.
Its the thing you believe in that is called GOD.
No matter WHAT or WHO it/he is, its just your believe.
HOOHA USSR Junkie...Athiests unite!

These is the truth...
1) "Believing in a God" is worthless unless you know what you are believing in. Religion provides this; an understanding for God. Therefore, in order to believe in a God, you must do one of two things.
A. Choose a religion.
B. Think of a understanding of God yourself, and claiming that you either had a divine enlightenment, or are an extremely lucky guesser.
2) If you choose a religion, you must go with it all the way. All major religions are contradictory to science, therefore you can't be half-into it. (If you really believe there is a heaven, why not live the holiest life possible? If I TRUELY thought there was a heaven, I'd do whatever i could to get there)
3) Just because a divine being created the universe doesn't mean he gives a rats ass about us. The way we are so insignificant in terms of size and placement in the universe sure looks that way. (unless you are a Creationist and believe that God made the universe this way to trick nonbelievers) We are a speck to a speck to a speck, inhabiting a microscopic portion of time in the universe's life. It sure doesn't look like the universe was created for us.

| U just said that yourself... The only reason why we can't explain it is our lack of sufficient knowledge! It seems illogical... but only yet. Just give humanity more time, and maybe even your kids will already be able to explain it logically. Just a bit more time... |

| Basically its all logical, just we dont understand whats going on at the moment, that really makes sense doesnt it! Sorry but thats what you wrote |
I specialized in biology in University, and studied a lot of Evolutionary Science and Anthropology. The reason why everything is in 'Perfect Balance' is because of Natural selection/survival of the fittest. Essentially, if an organism was out of balance with its environment, it would die... fast. So in the past 3 billion years, starting from primitive cells, things have evolved into multi-cellular organisms that are in balance with their surroundings (which include other organisms).
When the environment changes, which it does often, an imbalance is created, and some organisms have an advantage over others (ie dinosaurs when the comet struck could not survive, but other organisms [mammals] could, because they could sustain the colder environments).
Whether or not it was all started by a 'Higher Being', I dont know. It very well could have. I was raised Catholic, and beleived in God for a long time. Now, Im not entirely sure. But I do beleive in the possibity that a God could exist. Essentially, because I beleive in science, and science states that nothing is fact until it can be proven and tested, I beleive in the possibilty that God exists, only because nobody has proven that God doesnt exist.

This is the prodominent theory, another theory is a Big Crunch, the opposite of the Big Bang. Christianity CLEARLY states that the Universe, with the Earth, will end with the Apocolypse, a complex arrangement involving Jesus coming back to Earth. |

The bible is not a scientific book. it is a book full of analogies to help us understand life and to give us ideas how to go about living. It is full of analogies and similes (from my dictionary for i do not know that word in english).. you read it, you think about it.. you understand what it means.. |
