Who Likes Anime!?

i dont remember seeing a thread like this in the last, well, really long time... so ill start one.

any other anime addicts out there?

list your favorites, or list new series that you like.
also, where you get them! i frequent direct connect often, in the APN network... (animeplanet.dns2go.com is the ip for the first hub)... or i sometimes fight for new episodes on mirc.

NEW/SEMI NEW SERIES I LIKE:

.hack sign: imo a REALLY GOOD anime, only 3 eps out (3 just got subbed last night), about a guy who plays this mmorpg, and cant log out.. so the anime is set in this rpg, since i like rpgs a lot, i find this really interesting. excellent music also. there is going to be a 4 game series called .hack on the ps2, first one coming to the states this october.

RahXephon: mecha anime, i dont really consider it an eva ripoff... its hard to explain, its just good. 9 eps subbed i believe so far

Scryed: i know this one isnt very new, but semi new.. and all the rest of the episodes got released last night (ill tell ya, it was fun fighting for them in mIRC with 600 other people at the same time)... really good series, 26 episodes, about these people who have special abilities called alters. not much else to say without ruining it, its just good. lot of action

Full Metal Panic: pretty new, ive only watched 9 episodes (15 are subbed so far), but looks like it could be good and everyone praises it. about a soldier guy who is sent to protect this high school girl because of all this crazy stuff (that part of the plot hasnt been revealed in the part of the series im in yet)

Hellsing: only 13 eps, all have been released, and its not brand new but SO GOOD.. about a vampire who works with this company to hunt down other vampires, etc. supposedly there is a new season starting around halloween

i know when i get home ill find other new stuff i forgot to mention, i dont have lots of time to watch it tho so theres a lot i have but havent seen.

other series that i like:

Fruits Basket: this is my favorite series besides Eva.. comedyish, about a girl who lives with these people, they are cursed by the spirits of the jyunnishi (chinese zodiac characters), they turn into the animal when hugged by a person of the opposite sex. its fun cuz every few episodes youll meet a new character and you guess what the animal is. the first few are kinda slow but then it just gets really funny and weird

Neon Genesis Evangelion: need i even say anything about eva?

Digi Charat: i enjoy watching digi charat, especially when im not sober, because its just fucked up. 3 minute eps that are spastic and over cutesy and insane.

Serial Experiments Lain: a true mindfuck. its hard to say anything about it without ruining it, but needless to say its about the real world, and the "wired" (the internet)... and where its boundaries lie.. 13 eps

im sure ill remember more when i get home from work

As much as i like Anime, i don't have the HDD space for it, and to watch it on TV - means getting a satellite .

i consider myself an avid anime fan. when i come home on weekdays, i watch that yoo gi oh! and then at 4 oh clock it is pokemon and on fridays it is pokemon johto! i seldomly watch digimon. Thats mainly all the anime that i like.

i think stuff like that is definitely a "gateway anime" (heh) .. i started out just watching pokemon too.. then i would watch some other stuff, but i didnt like a lot of it.. and now i really like it. you should at least check out digi charat if you like cutesy stuff.. its terribly amusing

I used to watch anime like a fiend. I never finished the Eva series though...although, I didn't really like it that much. It was decent. My favourite anime is Samurai X, aka Kenshin. The 2 tape movie...frickin amazing stuff!! Ghost in the Shell was alright too, and Serial Experiments: Lain...was fucked up, in a good way.

Like I said, the 2 tape movie...2 one-hour episodes per tape. Its the prelude to the tv series, I think. It starts off when he's a little boy travelling with his parents/guardians and they get attacked by assassins, and killed. Then some master warrior saves Kenshin (that wasn't his actual name then) and trains him in the art of Mitsurugi. I think thats how it went.

i just asked about this since i have seen zero of kenshin, i guess the movie is different than the ovas.

i suggest the ovas then. popular opinion is that they are better than the tv series

but is dragonball Z/dragonball GT considered to be anime??

because I've been addicted to that stuff for a couple of months.....unfortunately kicked off when they stopped sending it out on the TV for a couple of months... when it came back they
1) started off @ no 1 (I was @ 140 or something)
2) sending it out in the middle of the afternoon......me==>>works till 5 o'clock, @home 6 o'clock....
