Southern Sun/Ready Steady Go

Paul Oakenfold will be releasing 'Southern Sun/Ready Steady Go' as the first single from his new album 'Bunkka' on June 10th.

Southern Sun / Ready Steady Go: June 10th 2002

Paul Oakenfold releases Southern Sun / Ready Steady Go on June 10th through Perfecto Records. The first single to be taken from his debut artist album, Bunkka, released on June 24th, it features mixes from DJ Tiesto and Gabriel & Dresden.

Released on both CD (PERF17CDS) and 12" (PERF17T) the full tracklistings are as follows:

CD: PERF17CDS
1. Southern Sun Radio Edit
2. Ready Steady Go Radio Edit
3. Southern Sun DJ Tiesto Mix

12": PERF17T
1. Southern Sun DJ Tiesto Mix
2. Southern Sun Gabriel & Dresden Mix
3. Ready Steady Go Radio Edit

Southern Sun features the vocal talents of rising star Carla Werner while vocals on Ready Steady Go are provided by So Solid Crew member Asher D.

Dutch superstar DJ Tiesto transforms Southern Sun into an epic trance melodrama while Gabriel & Dresden turn in a dark and ominous reinterpretation.

Read This!

DJ Nielson

I think the reason that there are only a few remixes on the offical release as opposed to all the remixes on your promo is because a few years ago the people that compile the top 40 charts in the UK changed the rules whereby if you want your song to get into the top 40 (ie achieve commerical success) the cd can not be longer than 20 minutes to classify as a single. Oakey obviously thinks that SS will be a big hit this summer and that is the reason why there are so few remixes and edits to keep it under the 20 min mark.

I remember a few years ago when i got new cd singles for my vestax decks that there could have been six remixes on the cd single, especially on Hooj Choons if i remember correctly. Quality!!

It sucks now though for dance tunes which all usually clock in around the 7 or 8 minute mark

Do they all have those annoying vocals? If so, I hate the tune

Yep, Turbotrance is right. It's to keep the lengths down. I wouldn't be suprised if a 'Remixes' package was released later on though.

I have a Cappella CD from years ago (Move It Up, on the ZYX label) with 9 mixes on it, 50 mins long! United DJ's - Too Much Rain has 12 tracks! Both are singles as well!

its so bloody annoying. i cant understand why there is this rule, it dosent make any sense. if its the title track being released it shouldn't matter what the hell is on it. maybe perfecto should start releasing 2 xCD's like positiva etc oh well bunch of fuckwits if you ask me. ill just keep trying to get my hands on imports and promo's. bloody british music industry, and poor solar stone

the reason for this is perfecto always has done this before with many songs. ie. Skipraiders - Another Day (this song is amzing if you don't have it yet get it) there were at least 6 mixes i think but he only released 2. thats all i know can't really clarify more than that.
