TAPS Idol - Season Finale!

Woo-hoo! Whee!

I received no other entries this week. And I thought my life was busy the last week! I hardly had any time in the studio this weekend, but I did manage to get a track done for this challenge (it's quite minimal, and short)...

(I should have titled this thread "Reason 4!" - heh heh heh. As if we didn't have enough threads with that title already. I received the upgrade on Friday, so that took up some time on the weekend, seeing what it had to offer...can I just say, I have many big expensive hardware synths, but my goodness, Thor doesn't take a backwards step in comparison to any of them. Each synth has it's own flavour and personality and my initial impression is that I'm going to be spending a lot of time with Thor...it's fantastic!)

Anyway, here's my track for the week four challenge - Vocal Love. Thankyou very much to Anthony's friend who allowed us to use her voice for this challenge - you have a beautiful voice, I hope you don't mind that I did things to it...currently I'm doing a lot of learning on vocal processing, experimenting...

Challenge Four

Thankyou to the contestants, voters and everyone who listened in! It has been a great learning experience!

Fabian

So disappointed that I couldn't enter in this week! Time just crept up on me and before I knew it the deadline came and went.

Well done Fabian!

This is a great competition... I think we could probably tweak how it works just a little and I think I would like to have my record label sponsor it with a decent prize (like a trigger finger/x-session or Axiom?) , and/or release.

PS. Fabian, BTW I am up for a beer, but I am interstate this week.. I'll email you a good day.

Yeah unfortunately I had to drop out as well since my CPU began overclocking on Friday. Unfortunately Intel will take about 2 weeks to get me a new one, so it seems I'm shit out of luck till then.

Congratulations Fabian on winning the first season of TAPS Idol!

Cool, either send me a pm or email me at the fabrikeuropa address, it'll be cool to catch up and chat!

Yes, the way the competition runs can be tweaked...it has been a really good learning experience. I've wondered what it would be like if prizes were offered...it's definitely a big consideration for the next comp. Potentially the timing could be tweaked too...thinking will take place!

Chat soon!

Thankyou, shame about the CPU! It's so frustrating when technology doesn't work. But computers allow us musicians to do so much...

...yay for winning by default! Obviously not satisfying, but I learned more about the tools I use, doing the challenges and working outside my usual comfort zone. It made me get a little more creative with what I was doing.

...but hey, maybe I can have the words "reigning champion" after my name, in the next competition. Heh heh.

Thanks for entering and producing quality music! We'll make the next comp bigger and better!

This has been a rather intriguing experience on TA. I would have loved to join the competition if the time constraints were a tad bit more lenient and if my mastering abilities were slightly more successful. You guys planning on trying again sometime soon?! I would love to join.

we'll def be doing this again, maybe with 2 weeks inbetween challenges... but probably won't start anything for a few months

Yes, I'm thinking a week and a half per challenge (so two weekends) and two or three days of voting.

As Anthony said, it'll probably be a few months. I wouldn't really want to run into Christmas, we may have a lot of people busy with other things around then, and drop out...

Probably fairly early next year! We'll advertise it quite prominently. It'll be great to have you on board!

Great! It buys me some time to work on my mastering skills!

and it gives me some time to work on my dirty bass skills... which I currently have little of.

Cuz I likes me some dirta bass!
