[MEL] The Hot Barbeque - Birraung Marr - New Years Day 2008

Future Entertainment presents

The Hot Barbeque, Australias most majestic summer music experience. The Hot Barbeque music and arts festival will offer a boutique and artistically unique alternative to the myriad existing events in the Australian festival landscape.

THE HOT BARBEQUE

Indie, funk, hip hop, rock n roll, electro and soul all line up on the hot bbq cook top making a feast for you, your friend and the other guy down the street!

Mix it up, fry it, steam it and serve it - this is the modern Australian party - The Hot Barbeque.

The Hot Barbeque will be presented annually on New Years Day at Melbournes Birrarung Marr on the verdant banks of the Yarra River, and will embrace a rarefied mix of organic and futuristic live music to create a hot and bubbling melting pot of indie, funk, hip hop, rock n roll, electro, soul and more.

Operating from midday through to 10pm, the festival will embody a commitment to arts culture and top of the line production standards to create a new breed of open-air event within the City of Melbourne. Capacity will be strictly limited to ensure everyone can enjoy the day comfortably and there will be first class facilities to ensure a boutique experience no waiting, no queues and no disappointments!

The Hot Barbeque will combine a highly diverse blend of local and international live performance artists, grounded firmly in the glowing heart of the left field, alternative and eclectic. The musical program aims to describe Melbournes own musical characteristics and cosmopolitan spirit combining influences from rock to the spoken word to magnificent dub-reggae, electro, minimal and beyond.

Great line up but the flyer is terrible.

Reminds me of the Beatles - Yello Submarine.

Interesting.

A lot of that local line up are playing at Renaissance aswell. Have some jumped ship and are going to play for Future now? Are Future putting an exclusivity clause on these DJs for that day?

Would love to see Q Bert.

DIVINYLS?!

as in chrissie amphlett? omgosh awesome. *touches himself*

Posted by EgosXII on Oct-29-2007 01:59:

the fact that streetparty, and tranterco are playing this festival somehow lesser it's value IMO... i mean, click click's (streetparty owns the night, and tranterco and he play there weekly) fun, but the djing there SUCKS

Posted by Lister Cooray on Oct-29-2007 05:21:

Some dj's are booked because they are part of crews that run successful nights. Promoters know booking these dj's will ensure greater ticket sales hence how some dj's get alot gigs.

In the odd case which i know of: some dj's even buy the tickets pretending to sell them..... just to get a gig.
