It's not a no-no. Why would it be a no-no? Hasn't everyone been to family gathering where someone got drunk in the course of events?

Unless you mean just chilling in the house and casually drinking shots. I guess that's a bit more polarizing and it depends. For my family, it's not much of a no-no.

I frequently get drunk with my brother. As for older relatives, I drink beer with my father, and at my cousin's wedding my entire extended family on my dad's side got drunk together.

I've been drunk with my dad in bars a couple of times. He could nod and say stuff like "that girl looks like she wants to dance, go talk to her". Yeah it can be weird and awkward, but you kinda forget about it after a while.

i try not to drink with family. because of a history of alcoholism in it

but with my dad or mum i can have a bottle of wine or something. with my cousins, i drink with them but im always cautious; i dont want stories of me doin drugs and what not blurring out

Whenever I'm in Poland my friend and I always sneak booze to my brothers house when I sleep over. His wife hates it, but we'll usually all get drunk and play some Fifa. How angry and competitive do those matches get when you're all drunk! I'm tellin' you!

I would say it is okay to get drunk with the fams, but when i got drunk with the groom who was marrying my cousin, and my other cousin who was cousin # eins' brother . . . I think that was a little too far. Sloppy drunk in a shitty strip club.
