CDJ 1000 Repair

Anyone know of a good place to get one repaired?

I've got one that will read and play CDs.. you can pause it.. and you can use the skip and search buttons.. but nothing else will work.

it's whack

are you a dj?

Posted by mnemonic. on Oct-19-2007 00:20:

check the back of the unit...theres a switch called cd mode, and dj mode, or something like that, or cd player mode and normal mode...regardless, its a tiny switch that may get flipped during transport, but if its been sitting on your table untouched, then take it to pioneer, i think they are located in mississauga

edit: dont know the point of having that "CD player" mode, which is the most basic functions of it and sounds like what you're describing, cause with the price of a 1000 (any series) thats one EXPENSIVE FUCKING CD PLAYER

the switch was the first thing i looked at. didn't work.

damn. power down the unit, flip it back and forth, power it back on...would be my next suggestion, maybe that will somehow reset it...what version of cdj 1000 out of curiousity?

It's been powered down multiple times.

it's an MK2

and it's fooked!

so anyone know a good place to fix it?

i would think that going to wherever you bought it would be a good idea

Long & McQuade has in-store electronics repair staff...maybe give them a call?

If not, I'm sure there's a manufacturer-approved repair centre somewhere in the city. Call Pioneer?

that would be a wonderful idea, id I'd actually purchased it.
It was given to a friend a few years ago by a liqour company as payment for a gig.

I think I should rephrase my question.

has anyone used a place that before for repairs on a CDJ 1000, which they found to be quick, reliable and not overly expensive?

I know a million and one places that will fix it, but I don't know anyone that's actually used the places and can give me a heads up on who's on the ball.

ev, it sounds like the laser is ******ed..... i would take it to an authorized pioneer dealer and have them look at it. if you take it to any long and mcquade, i'm sure they can send it away to get it fixed.

not too sure what the cost is on that - i'd wager a guess on a couple hundred bucks.

good luck.

I'm going to go with Long & McQuade on this one as well.

ahhh I gotta fix my CDJ-1000mk3 too, the SD card reader won't read, I've been slacking off on it cause it's a feature I don't use too often, but it sucks having something that's not 100% fully functional.

Take it to the Pioneer Service Depot in Markham (just North of HWY7, East of 404).

This is the only place that can work on the unit without voiding warranty and the only place that will provide Pioneer warranty on service work performed.

I would check out Audio Operations in Mississauga, I've had some Pro Audio gear serviced there in the past.

Their website is here

The shop is on Orwell, just NW of Queensway and Cawthra.

Good luck.

Hey do you know if they do work on CDJ-1000s bought in America?

Pioneer Canada Service Depot services all Pioneer Professional DJ equipment (regardless of where it was purchased).

American warranty service is only provided by the Pioneer US repair depot.

You can still get your unit serviced in Canada, but it will not be via the warranty ($0 cost). You will have to pay for the service.

All service however - will then be warrantied in Canada (if the serviced item broke again Pioneer Canada would provide warranty service on it at no cost [per warranty terms]).

Do not waste your time going to Long or taking it to pioneer. They are both extremely slow. If you want to get it back asap take it to Ontario Audio/Video Service. When I had a problem with my cdj they fixed it next day. They are fully authorized by pioneer and so if you have a warranty you dont pay a cent. They are at 2074 Steeles Ave Unit 21. Phone number is
(905) 791- 2020

Let me know how it goes. They where amazing to me
