Incident with James Zabiela in Madrid
From James' website:

Oct 03, 2007 SPACE OF SOUND, MADRID STATEMENT There appears to be some lies floating around on the net by the promoters/club Space of Sound in Madrid regarding my performance Sunday night and I want to set the record straight. After 43 minutes they told me to 'get off' and literally forced me to stop playing. My flight was delayed and the club owner felt it was more important not to upset the residents. I thought maybe I had done something wrong or not played the right kind of music? I'm sorry if anyone was disappointed, but I was as well. Very much. Much love, James Zabiela

It really means a lot because I was so unhappy at the party. After 43 mins they told me to get off and literally forced me to stop playing. You could probably see I was upset. My flight was delayed and the club owner felt it was more important not to upset the residents. I thought maybe I had done something wrong or not played the right kind of music? Can you please post this message from me? Id just like people to know what went on. I was so sad! I will never play at this club again, they also recorded my short set and put it on the internet without my permission. Im sorry you were dissapointed, but I was as well. Very much. Maybe Ill find somewhere else to play in Madrid, somewhere smaller perhaps with less egos involved. I hope so because I never get to play in Madrid and I really like the place and the crowd were very good. Much love, James Zabiela
fucking club promoters... Ravelizards got JZab's back, no hard feelings.
Someone's going to pounce on the opportunity to make a Tenaglia reference, but it's not apropos.
I'm sure some people were irritated, but if there's anybody to whom I'd give the benefit of the doubt on something like this, it's JZ.

The truth is that Space Of Sound's main promoter is fucking rich and he just books every "underground" dj (understand no tiesto, armin & co. here) in the top of the djmag without even listen what style they play. James was going to play much more time but he started with a lot of breaks (nothing wron IMO but very different from the stuff played in the club) so the promoter basically was tired and unhappy with the croud attitude after 43 minutes and forced him to stop. Nothing about the flight here, just they dont know what they book. Abyway it was in an "after" session, not a regular night. Yes, IGNORANTS.
Tell this to James.

James Zabiela is a legend and one of the nicest DJs going around, everyone knows that.
This shouldn't do shit all to his rep.
You think you've had it bad ? I was supposed to see Zabiela yesterday and he was cancelled:

Hi, I regret to inform you all I will not be performing tonight at Warsaw due to a delay in receiving my passport from the US Embassy where it was being processed for a visa. This accompanied by bad traffic from Southampton to Heathrow meant my flight was sadly missed. BUT, I will be in Poznan Saturday night Smile And I re-sheduled my flight accordingly. I will be spending the night in the airport, nothing will stop me coming to Poland! I really cannot wait!!! Smile Many apologies, James

I still hope he got payed for his time...
that's nothing. last night I was DJing a house party and after two songs (Jim Rivers - I Go Deep and Ferrer - Love Can Damage Your Health) they tell me to play more "housey" stuff, more commercial shit I guess.
And I couldnt go 5 minutes without some fucking dumb girl asking me to play rap or soulja boy
seriously though, why are you idiot promoters thinking you are above DJs like JZ? isn't he basically a legend?
yes i would think so .,,very good dj .on the wrong end of the so called club p.. no wonder it takes a lot fOR a dj to travel miles to make USE happy & all he gets is 43 mins to prove him self to them ,they dont know music then ,sounds like a cheesy club to me ..cheesy understatement,,, shit club
Wow.
lol @ the US Embassy. They haven't been doing that job right for years.
Promoters should stick to promoting, and not take the role of musical directors.
