John DahlbÄck

as far as production goues what do you guys think of this dude?

i think all of his tunes have been top quality, cept for blink seems like a rip off of an benassi tune.

John Dahlback is definitely one of the DJs/Producers giving Swedes a good rep.

Guy releases an insane amount of music. As such, his quality control isn't always the best.

Posted by Alex on Oct-21-2007 04:53:

To be honest, I never got into him.

The bass is always so farty, in pretty much every one of his tunes...

Posted by jupiterone on Oct-21-2007 05:10:

Meh, sometimes he'll get a really good tune out but lately I haven't enjoyed really much at all

Posted by Sukhoi29SU on Oct-21-2007 05:33:

"don't speak" has been his latest that I've really liked, and his remix of "Human Animal" ... well I didn't care for it at first but I'm starting to like it a bit more

Try his HUG alias and the album released earlier this year. No farting, more techy. Good stuff.

What I really went for some years ago, was his DK8. Then..he's too many times too much "elektro" producer without that energy style he had with Dk8 work..

x2

The guy releases like three tracks a day; half his stuff is complete rubbish as a result.

I don't mind some of his stuff though; I thought the I'm EP was good.

Far more respect for Jesper though, Polyhouse is one of my all time favourite tunes, and his collaborations with Beyer are great.

Jesper's the fucking Godfather of the Mafia.

I like his remixes better than his productions but he's definitely top notch.

+1, but he has a fair amount of good and great releases. I specially enjoy 'Don't Speak'.

regardless of what you think of his productions/remixes, the man is a great dj. from track selection to pure technical skill, this guy knows his way around some turntables

Thanks! I'll check these out

love his track 'sugar'....but for someone who has about 1,895,734 releases, there is bound to be a mixture of good & bad

Ya?

I'll check it out then, techy is yum!

Used to like him a lot but, like some have alluded to, his production quality has dropped off in the last year or so. He really needs to stop releasing new material every week and put more effort into individual tracks.

However, his Kaliber stuff is still worth listening to.

What Kush said, plus i just have tremendous respect for this guy cause even tho his productions (esp under "John Dahlback") has catered to more to mainstream-ish type lately, this man knows his way around the studio, inch by inch.

His "Hugg & Pepp" or "Hug" are more techy and more interesting, and of course "Kaliber" theres some quality stuff, all the DJs are using those tracks

I prefer his taste to his music... His label(s) is fire and he has some great selections... he'll pick up a tune in a second if it's got his sound.

Sometimes it takes him like 6 months to release a tune he's picked up... but I prefer that

He's also made some fire..... 1 of 10 tracks might appear on my radar....

The reaction "Rolle Niva" has gotten for me live is one I'll probably never forget. Epic win.
