Hellgate: London

What the shit, no thread on this on the first page? @.o

Comes out October 31. 1 week away!

I have my CE pre-ordered from Gamestop. You get a special in-game armour dye kit that way!

Please tell me some others are psyched about this one.

This is the game made by ex-Blizzard employees that made diablo right? If that's the case I might check this one out as well

Conceited or not, the devs have balls enough to just come out and say it.

Oh ffs, it's started already.

Looks sweet, I might be getting this. Too bad I won't have much time to play games till school is over in December. I really am looking forward to UT 3 though. This game might take a little more time to figure out and play than UT 3. UT 3 is more casual..play whenever you want kind of game.

The demo was pretty bad. I didn't care for the UI at all. It could end up being a great game but I think it'll take some time. Diablo was fun for me because of the sense of being overwhelmed but pulling it in an exhausting battle. Hellgate will probably have that but because of the camera view it won't be so profound. I was really looking forward to this game for a long time and right now I'm up in the air about it. I'll wait for some reviews, some patches, and find out of the monthly subscription for extra content is worth it.

Yeah I was really underwhelmed by the demo. I had a fair bit of hope for this game, but I found the gameplay really boring, and apparently it doesn't really improve, as well as having issues with meaningless skill specs, overused tilesets for zones.

It basically just felt like running around holding down the 'fire' button and swinging my mouse around to aim at one or two monsters at a time, then move on until I run into another 1/2 monsters.

It's a shame because the core idea for the game is solid, and I think if they'd started beta earlier and given it another 6 - 12 months testing they could have a real winner on their hands. They're onto something with their idea of incorperating first person combat mechanics into an action-RPG, but they took the worst of both genres combat systems, not the best, and combined them.

Not really worth buying, imo, and definately not worth paying the monthly fee they're asking for the 'elite' service. Maybe after a years patching it'll be worth looking at again.

It seems to me that this is going to be the way of online games anymore. Polished product or not, if you can ship it out and get people signed up, essentially paying for Beta, you've probably covered a lot of profit expectations and production values by now. It's the way I always felt about WoW. They're still changing some really fundamental shit in that game. People have been playing the late Beta version of WoW for almost 3 fucking years.

And who wins?

The companies, of course. There is little doubt in my mind that this game will improve. I feel as though the general premise of the game is attractive enough for me to want to be a part of its change, so I will strap in at the very beginning.

Maybe once they can fire up the in-game advertising system (imaging broken down Coca-Cola billboards in a ruined city...not out of place, but product placement nevertheless) it will really create enough resources for them to overhaul the game in really great ways.

/wishful thinking

6 more days @.@

That pic kicks ass. I hope thats the cover of this game.

Apparently it was in Playboy or something?

Either way some dude had a lot of fun doing that.

are you guys paying the monthly fee or whatever? i'm still not clear on that.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Nov-02-2007 01:48:

Subscription is currently disabled, but if they address some of the worth of it in the near future (which I predict they will), it will definitely become worth it. As for now though, you don't need a sub to play multiplayer, so I don't have one.

Posted by eROs.au on Nov-08-2007 04:41:

Tried it out. O.K. game. I'm not thrilled with it. It will randomly start chugging badly (like 1 fps) for some reason.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Nov-08-2007 08:30:

I've not encountered a single performance issue whatsoever. I have all settings on high and my computer is about 3 years old, so I dunno why you would be having issues. :/

Turn off your porn torrents, imo.

In the beginning it used to crash for me rather frequently, but the occurances have dropped drastically. Vista is terrible for this game

And on a side note, I love playing online with my friend. I equipped a bunch of +Luck armors to bring my luck up about +165. I get so many nice drops because of it. It feels like Christmas everytime a unique or legendary item drops
