External HD issues

My external hard drive has more issues than a 15 year old chick. Well..only 1 problem and theres not blood running down it's leg.

When i turn it on it says that the drive is not ready check to see if door is open and all that crap. Did it die? This thing topped off and its 250gb i really would like to get all that data.

THAAANX

This is just like when the ATM machine asks you to feed it a stray cat.

LOL!!! Ace film that.

Have had a windows error trying to use a ATM. It ate my card. "how long will it take to get my card back? I need money for my holiday" "ehhh..........they cut up the cards when they fix it" "oh no I'm feather plucked!"

If you blow into it like the old NES maybe it will work again.

It's one of these.

Now the messege doesnt pop up but still doesnt recognize it. The little light flashes between dark orange and light orange every few min.

I'm about 10 seconds away from beating this thing to smithereens.

ironically, im having the same problem with my Seagate 250 gb external.
Shows up sometimes, doesnt show up most of the time. When it does read the drive, it stops functioning after 10 minutes, cant copy anything to or fro.

I'm starting to think having a backup is pointless when external HD don't last longer than your internal...

one of my issues with my big drive is that if you fill it up, it starts acting strange and being a pain. you may have other issues but if i try to fill my drive up past 35GB on a 320 things start going south.

then again, if you cant recognize it, you cant delete anything either...|

To be honest sounds like *it doesn't know what type of drive it is. Just guessing (and been drinking).

Check device manager (or it's eqiv.) to make sure it is detecting it properly.

Eek. I just bought a 120 GB one. I might have to baby it from now on and leave it at home.

I got a can of Dust Off and blew it in the vents on the bottom. No go.
