ipod question...

please, comments about zune or some other mp3 players are not wanted here. i like ipods. we own 4 in this house and they all rock. even if this ipod is dying, im going to buy another one.

so onto the question...

i just plugged my gfs 20gb ipod into the computer to charge it like we always do. and it made some strange noise. never heard it before. like 3 loud clicks. def came from the ipod speaker. it wouldnt charge either. just the critical battery image came up. the ipod battery was dead which is why were charging it. anyway, plugged it in, made the noise, the icon came up, wouldnt charge, got the wall charger and now its charging. but what i want to know is, wtf was that noise? we've owned that ipod for over 2 years and have never heard it before. anybody know?

Usually if my batt is completely drained it doesnt want to charge through the computer cause it syncs when i hook it up and it actually wants power to sync so it'll fuck up. I would have to wall charge it a lil bit first then hook it up to my computer. Maybe the beeping was binary saying to charge me up first ****** i cant go for a run when im dehydrated...beep niggah...i dunno

So I say replace it with a Touch.

how about people wait a year or so...then they wil lhate the touch. You have greasy hands or sewating hands that the screen turns to shit.

yeah well my gf has a 20gb ipod that is over 2 years old.
i have an 80gb ipod that is over a year and a half old.
we also own 2 1gb ipod shuffles that are around a year old.

all work. all have fantastic battery life. all have an awesome user interface. the only thing i can complain about is itunes. piece of shit program. but the ipod itself. awesome.

this is the first problem we've ever had. and its not really even a problem. just something that happened that i was curious about.

its not the product that inferior. its the 13 year old little girls who throw their ipods around like gossip thats inferior. people who bitch about ipods imo are about as smart as a 13 year old girl.

so, does anyone know what the noise meant? im partial to believing the battery was too low to sync theory now.

I have absolutely no need for any more space than that for a portable media player.

I have movies, music, Nintendo, and WiFi with loads of other 3rd party installable apps.

All of that makes it's relatively small storage capacity meaningless to me.

Why people bother putting movies on their players that have a screen even smaller than their penis is beyond me.

see my 80gb is like my treasure chest. i open it up and its like "what legendary set or album do i want to listen to today?" im on the road a lot and usually dont listen to the same thing twice unless its really worth it, so i like A LOT of selection. the 80gb was never enough for me. but i will be honest, half the shit on there i dont listen to. i just like that its there in case i do want to listen to it. nothing pisses me off more than not being able to listen to something when i really want to. hell i even know the 160gb wouldnt be enough for me. i honestly need a 1tb mp3 player.

uhhh maybe some of us are out of the house, have a break from whatever we are doing and like a little entertainment. i will say watching a movie on an ipod isnt the best experience in the world, but it def beats the alternative of twiddling my thumbs for 2 hours. generally ill put comedies on my ipod. action movies dont work well for the obvious reasons, but comdies are perfect.

i dunno, my opinion has always been if you love movies, invest the money into something that does them justice and if youre not into movies, why are you putting them on your icrap?

oh jesus. not every movie is made to watch 100xs. i just watched 'license to wed' on my ipod on wednesday. movie was crappy with like 5 kinda funny moments that almost made me chuckle. why would i want to invest my money on a movie like that? it kept me entertained for 1.5 hours and thats all i needed. examples of movies i watch on my ipod... knocked up, license to wed, rataouille, antitrust, live free or die hard, blades of glory. none of these movies are worth watching a second time. well, rataouille maybe. but thats it. screen resolution doesnt matter when the main goal is just to follow the story and kill time.

i love movies, hell i have a huge dvd collection, but movies like that. fuck that. ill watch em when im bored and have nothing better do it. at home, ill watch a better movie thank you very much or spend my time doing something productive.

Not the only one.

I have a 6GB iRiver e10, which I love. I generally only have about 5GB worth of tunes on it, which I change around regularly anyway.
