2007 Most Overrated Track(s) awards

Maybe this has been done already, and with my luck it most likely has (in which case once someone directs me to the thread, this one will be deleted), but it's roughly the end of the year, time to pick the tracks you thought were overrated. Not necessarily the *worst* tracks out there, but the ones you thought got the most hype that really shouldn't have.

And yes, I expect Heater to be making the most appearances.

Here's mine

Gel Abril - Very Wrong (Chaim remix)

fucking boring techno track. It works to build into something, and even then there's plenty of other tracks I like better, but the track on its own is piss boring.

Martin Buttrich - Hunted

Another boring track, though the vocals I could see used and implemented well as an acapella.

Resident Advisor's Top Ten

/joke answer.

I'll come up with something seriously a little later...

Yeah, but I doubt every track on their top ten made it onto literally almost every tech house comp this year like that Chaim remix of Very Wrong

Damn me and my serious responses to joke replies :/

Same here. I guess every producer is allowed shit tracks and this is one of his; I was only surprised at the recognition is garnered.

Anything by Deadmau5 that is rated highly is overrated

faxing berlin. it's like a half decent filler track tops

'heater' isn't overrated at all, it's been duely slated by ~75% of its listeners!

Posted by Ted Promo on Oct-27-2007 16:10:

I thought Faxing Berlin and Not Exactly were wonderful tracks, just a bit overplayed is all. His remix of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger isn't too shabby either, but I'll concede that his bass, kick, and hi-hat combo seem to be recycled in every track he does.

I like to think i've avoided nearly all of them.

That's because you listen to psytrance. No one likes psytrance

lol trust me, there is a lot of real dogshit tracks in psy, but there's the good too. Most of my listening is split nowadays though between electronic (d&b, trance, psy/goa, progtrance/house) and forms of rock music.

Good call.

Although that Greenland flag.... your gonna have to convince me a bit harder

Marcus Schossow - Mr White

I actually think Faxing Berlin and Not Exactly are fitting candidates for this.. relatively cool tracks but nothing particularly special, yet got the reputation of being wonderful for some season. Add W and Dumb Truck by Cobblestone Jazz to the list (although I haven't heard the full "W" track, only the sample, which sounds really uninteresting).

+1

I think he makes good productions and remixes, but i just hate when it reached the point this year of everything the guy does being in every trancie housie influenced dj set around. Then it became even worse when lots of people some how decided he needed to be thrown in amongst the Electro bandwagon.

Benga & Coki - Night

Robbie Rivera - Float Away (Dubfire's Casaplex Remix)

Posted by Cobalt on Oct-28-2007 00:45:

How about RibCage?

Posted by Clovis on Oct-28-2007 01:04:

Ribcage is a great track when used right, as a DJ Tool.

And I dunno what shite weed you're smokin Ted, that Chaim remix is the bomb! Funky, chuggin and fast paced, works great to pick up the dancefloor when used right...it's one of my fav tracks to play out right now.

Saw Digweed and Lee play it out, when Lee dropped it everyone went nuts!

Also, I like hunted alot , sounds great on a big system!
